Thats an easy one

You will invalidate your warranty with an LPG conversion (but most converters will offer you another) so you will be looking at 3y old petrol cars VS TDV8's which will by definition be a lot newer

Cheers

Thanks for info.

Not really a diesel fan and would enjoy the power of the S/C.

If warranty was not important to me would the S/C be a better option - LPG - 40p/ltr now!

With a conversion the tank will take the space of the spare wheel - for safety reasons I wouldn't recommend this. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten
2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed.

United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver

I have an S/C on a 55 plate and had it converted to LPG before the warranty ran out. I had some warranty work completed after the conversion no issue.

OK the spare wheel is in the boot - when I don't need the boot. And when I need the boot, I remove the spare and chuck in 2 cans of Holt 4x4 tyreweld.

I get the equivalent of about 33 mpg (Autogas = 44p / litre)

Performance of the S/C is superb - you won't be disappointed - also sounds good

However to be fair I have not had the chance to drive the TDV8 yet - so can't compare.

I'd recommend an S/C nearly 3 years old and have it LPG converted (not that I'm biased)

depends on your mileage and lifespan, but if i were doing 8000 a year (and no vat qualifying car) in this climate i would buy a cheap 3 year old s/c and lpg it, but ONLY if i was hanging on to it for 3-4 years min otherwise resale would be a bitch! M3 CSL Silver Grey

Germany 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Bonatti Grey

I have been thinking a lot about buying a petrol RRS and convert it to LPG since there was no TDV8 in my price range. Confused

However as you can see in my signature I finally went for the TDV6 instead of the petrol-LPG-combination and there are some reasons for this:
- fuel range: with a petrol V8 RRS you will be able to drive about 200 miles with a full tank of LPG, it will be a lot less with the S/C.
- LPG tank position: the spare wheel in the RRS is not IN the boot it is under it; therefore your LPG-tank will be situated below the car which is not the best idea if you plan to go offroading sometime. It may not explode if you crash it but it will be at least broken which will cost you a fortune. Confused

Warranty is not a big issue since any sincere converter will give you full waranty at least on engine, exhaust and transmission.

If you do not have any problem with my mentioned issues, then go for it. Thumbs Up Otherwise the TDV8 is a great car and in contrast to the TDV6 (which is a great car, too) it doesn't drive like you are used to it from a diesel. Wink

Or you could just go for a used, 2-year-old SC which will cost you a lot less than a new TDV8. With the saved $$$ you can pay the petrol for many, many years and do not need to convert anything.
