But now you are going to ask....How do I know if its got the right rack on it Question

Too techy for me. But I'm sure it's been discussed before or someone will be a long soon with the answer.

There's a thread on here with diagrams showing both damped and non-damped steering racks. Only the original SCs came with the damped rack back in 2005. I think since 07, they've all had the damped rack installed. For the diagrams, search for "damped steering rack" Very Happy

As long as it has the newer dappened steering rack then it shouldn't be a problem putting bigger wheels on it. There were issues with early models that needed the rack changing for bigger wheels to be fitted..

Josh, I stand to be corrected but I think the dampened racks (Sounds like one of Jays top shelfers! Shocked ) was only required for 20" wheels as quite a few HSE's on 19's were manufactured without it Thumbs Up Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

The market is def falling very quickly, as I have mentioned before, went to bentley last weekend, and thought about buying a used GT - my 75K will buy me an 06 car now, as opposed to an 04 car this time last year - but things stand to get worse for markes like Bentley - they said they only have one used one available, because if they buy any more, there is a good chance they will lose money as the cars are sitting on their forecourts longer than their required 30 days....

I'm contemplating getting into a new TDV8 right now, but TBH, it's the knocking issue which is holding me back slightly, as I know I would be really P Censored ed if I ended up with one which had a problem....

Many of you like the X6? I must say it's looks pretty good in the flesh.....but silly buying one now as they are all almost new, and g'teed to lose a stack full of money in the first year.....

Nick, with your 75k, buy a year old M5 to avoid the initial hit and then spend the rest on doughnuts and fryups! Whistle

M5 doesn't really do much for me, it's more the fuel bills that would scare me off - in a Bentley I'd be looking at about £700 a month.....there is no such thing as a good investment car wise these days - the classic car market will even go the same way back when it did in the 90's....all we can do is ride it out, what else can we do?? Am enjoying my RRS, and still look back in delight every time I leave it parked up... Smile

Thanks S, who needs a banker when we have you eh?

Still looking for a new car though, and at the moment it's between a TDV8 and a cheaper 55K Bentley...would be interested to know whow many of you would still look at a new TDV8 which the suspension issue.....our sponsors at CH have been excellent in advising me and have not put on any pressure at all - but they can't g'tee me my new car will not have this problem - its a risk, but is it one worth taking? I know I'd be so Censored off if it had the problem...so still deciding if it's worth it or not. Whereas an 04 Bentley GT, with maybe 20K miles would work a treat if I get a cheaper car to ride into work, meetings etc - just not sure whether it work in reality...

Kaine I know what you're saying mate - and it's an obvious choice - I just want to wait another 2 months perhaps and see if the Gt values will fall any lower, and don't worry, I'm going to ask for 5K off their sticker price....colour choices are either Moonbeam Silver (yeah I know, but looks good still) Tempest Silver (dark grey) or Beluga. I still have to admit the petrol costs share the crap out of me, but as long as I can face driving to and from work, and running around in a 1.0 piece of pooh, I'll be ok....

Did you see the Q5 review in Autocar with the LR? Q5 came out on top.....

Hmm... difficult.

I've not personally experienced what the infamous knocking sounds like... so would personally be drawn towards the TDV8 but that's also simply because the Bentley wouldn't meet the family needs etc.
