Hi,

I work in Luton and am very interested in this. How long would you need the car to remap?

Hi

We would need the car for about 1 hour. We can drop/pick you up from work whilst the remap is being carried out.

Here is a review from a forum member who took up the offer of the Evolve Remap with a Switch unit for a TDV8.

http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic11268.html

We have the evolve Switch units in stock ready for next day delivery. All orders outside the EU will not have to pay 17.5% VAT so this can be taken off the prices quoted in the first post.

regards

Thanks bellautos for bringing the post up again! Thumbs Up
This really sounds very, very interesting. Smile

I hope, evolve still reads this topic and answers the questions, so here are mine:

Do I understand it correctly that I can get my car remapped without bringing it to you due to the switch unit?
I understand I can switch the car back to normal with the switch unit before brining it to the dealer, can the dealer still recognize the car has been remapped?
If I have the situation that my dealer does a ECU update what will happen? Will I not be able to upload the mapped software on the car again and then I will have to download the new original software on the switch, send it to you and get a new one back? Or can I break something by trying to remap it again with a remapping that is based on "older" software?
To switch between original and tuning do I need anything else than your unit and a normal PC, like any special car tools or so or is it just plug and play?

A lot of questions, I know, but I would be very pleased if you could answer them! Thumbs Up

Thank you. RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

Thank you.

I also sell a BAS remap interface with my own personal mapping on as many on this and the other forums have.
Yes you dont have to bring the car to me the unit and your PC is all you need.

Also yes irecomend you put the car back to standard before ANY dealer visits.
NO the dealer can 100% not tell the car has been mapped IF you put itback to standard first.

If the dealer does do a software upgrade and youhave returned the car to standard first, then the tool will let you start a fresh and reload a new map file, and yes it is free IF you return your car tostandard with the tool prior to the dealer visit.

The tool wont let you program the older software to the car isyou have had a dealer software update, it will tell you there is a problem.

To switch between original and tuning once the pc has been used to program the tool the pc is not needed any more.
It is all done with the tool only.

Regards Pete

Sorry you've lost me...I know that's not hard.....so if a dealer reflashes the ecu will I be able to use the hand-held unit again to restore the tuning? Or do I have to make sure I put my car back to standard before it goes into the dealer?[/

If you have a unit you MUST put back to standard before any dealer visits incase the software gets updated by them.
If you dont the tool will be locked thinking that your car is tuned with the old software version and now the tool will be dead.

Thanks a lot for the answer! Thumbs Up

Are your prices an data for the TDV6 the same as posted earlier by evolve or are there any differences (which?)?
Would be interested to know. Thanks. Smile

I'm planning a remap about march next year (after the next service) so no need to hurry but I like beeing well informed. Smile

edit: I don't think I will get TÜV on the remap, do I? Not that I care... Whistle Laughing RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

TUV wont be needed on a remap that no offical is ever going to see Smile

My prices are slightly more than some other competitors due to the developement of my products and mapping that is done in house . see here http://www.defender2.net/forum/post2617.html#2617

Most other competitors maps are not made by there selfs nor is the developement work and are only bought in from a tool supplier or from AutoLogic.

Sounds nice, thanks.

I'm with you on the officials thing... Twisted Evil

Just two more questions:
Is the speed limiter also deleted or raised with the remap? Or could this be done the same way for some payment?
How long does reprogramm it take before taking it to the stealer? Is it a fiveminutes-job or does it take more like an hour?

Thanks! Thumbs Up RRS TDV6 HSE, 2006, bonatti grey, ebony interior, rear diff, s/c grille and vents, stormers, privacy, tasmods, iphone integration Wink

Hi
Yes i can remove or adjust the speed limiter for you built into the mapping for no extra cost, just as ive done on my RRS and D3's Smile

It takes 6 mins to read and 4 mins to write on average.

Hi All,

Believe me when I say the switchable re-map is a very easy and quick method of re-mapping your RRS and the increase in useable power is fantastic Thumbs Up

Having owned a TDV8 for 12 months thinking that it had enough power, once Pete persuaded me to give the switchable re-map a try (having the same system on my Defender TDCi), he could not get the box back off me and I could not get rid of the grin on my face Very Happy

Pete is very coy about the work he does and often does not make comment on these sites even when others are not telling the full truth. Everyone selling the switchable re-maps, other than Pete, are using someone elses maps bought in standard form, which makes the map you are buying a standard map for any TDV6/8 etc, but Petes are specifically mapped for your individual car Bow down so any quirks your car may have can be compensated for or adjusted etc - this makes Petes system much better Thumbs Up

One last thing, its not all about how much extra BHP or power you can get, but more about the useable power when needed Exclamation Exclamation

Russell. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.
