2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zermatt Silver
first 4 hours of ownership

So, i collected the RRS today. Took a while to handover as apparently the cleaner had left the lights on and drained the battery, so they swapped it over

As i pulled away, the battery light was on it, bt dealer said not to worry, just drive and it will go out. What a mistake

3 hours later, all the warning lights come as one by one everything shut down. Managed to get home and phoned land rover assist. No specialists available so its being towed to battersea tomorrow morning for them to look over. Jag x type being delivered tonight.

Boy am i happy with everything!

Ahhhh Sad

That must be so disheartening, you must be disgusted Crying or Very sad

I can only say that I hope you get your Sport back soon, the dealership are exemplary in their dealings with you & that you can put this awful start behind you.

I wish you many happy hours driving to make up for this disappointment, just don’t give up on your new car yet, although it must be very hard not to Sad

Waiting for the call shortly. Wondering what I should ask for.

Suggestions so far have been next years warranty free (think thats asking a bit much), next service free (just too dull for me) or the land rover experience off road day (which i know i would thoroughly enjoy!)

Any other ideas?

Although on the plus side, very happy with land rover assist. Within 3 hours of the call, the car had been collected, and loan car delivered. Just wish I hadnt had to use them so soon!

Have to say the whole assistance programme is managed very well.... and you might say that this is because it's not managed by LR Wink

As for some kind of recompense.... you've got warranty for 3 yrs anyway, you can get a free LRE simply by requesting a brochure from the LR website. Next service for free? Well, maybe.... personally I'd be asking for some free dealer-fit stuff that you didn't order. Some side steps? Loadspace mat?

Bought it from the used programme, so only 1 year left. Will look into that free experience option. Its supercharged, so not sure what dealer fit items i could have? Will look on the website

Been told they cant look at it till wednesday, wont have answer until thursday afternoon at the latest. Not overly impressed

So after all the calls to the dealership, and being told to phone tomorrow to speak to my sales guy, i duly do so at 9am to be told he is in a meeting till 10am.

I phone back at 11am to be told he is actually off today. Am i asking to much for someone there to use their brains and maybe call me this morning?

Just phoned again and spoke to the sales manager, told him the story, and apologised profusely and that he will call me back shortly to let me know what we can do

Sorry BA, I thought it was new... Neutral

Either way, it's no way for them to be treating a new customer. There's plenty of stuff in the accessories brochure that you could go for. Even a couple of LR Gear jackets or something... it's all about customer service and creating a good impression.

sales manager called back. Incredibly apologetic etc. What they think happened is the new battery they put in had a defective cell. New battery is being collected in the hour, and will be performing tests to ensure it is the battery, and nothing more sinister. Fingers crossed back with me in 24 hours.

So fingers crossed im where i wanted to be, and quicker than expected. Impressed with the sales guy and what he has done.

Now, not mentioned freebies or anything as waiting to see what happens this afternoon, but how does one go about this?

Does, 'you know, that level 1 off road day looks mighty interesting and may well help heal the emotional scars inflicted on me. Those chrome fender vents look mighty nice too. And that umbrella'.

A months fuel???

I can't believe they said the errors would cure themselves off you go. The one thing the car does not like is a low battery.

Indeed - MDP had a whole catalog of problems that were all solved simply by replacing the battery which, it turned out, was duff.
