lradvice@landrover.com is the email, but the "top end line manager" won't want to get involved unless you've followed the usual escalation process.

This is the biggest problem......trying to find someone to bellyache to. It is hard to get past the first line of defence with LR. Perhaps find out where they are located and just walk in there! RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof

The approach is fair enough though - using the "write to the CEO" approach as your first line of attack all guns blazing isn't really going to get you anywhere. The higher echelons of management may be ultimately responsible for service provided but they can't spend all day dealing directly with customer's problems, otherwise they'd never have any time to fix them strategically.

2005 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 SE Cairns Blue

Thanks guys,
i may have got somewhere anyhow.
I have the well documented steering shimmer which has been to Bill (Vgood tech at hillendales) who logged it as an issue some 6mths ago. since then i contacted LR customer service & managed to obtain a customer number though they where reluctant to give it me. This i then found out means the rep who you deal with owns your complaint & its his job to try to settle it. My man assured me that techys new the problem was the torque convertor having a fault on this model. They said the new convertor was being produced by ZR i think who make the box, but it could be a month or so as it had now been tested & found that this was the issue.
6mth later, still no news.
having driven a new 2007 last edition v6 which has no shimmy, i wanted to ask the main man a question. I e-mailed my contact with: if the latest model doesn't have the shimmy then you must be using the new designed convertor? if so it must be in production for both line vehicles & parts for this model? if so why is it not being fitted to my vehicle? why do you say you are awaiting production? Is LR bean counting to get as many early vehicles past 3 years old so as most owners have swapped them in?
My contact called right away & said i was correct & the part was made & in circulation but i had missed the boat & the last batch had all gone, it would be another few months before any more where produced. I called me dealer principal (Hillendale) & they where great as usual. The MD called & said he dropped a bomb on there desk as it seemed all the convertors had left by the back door & they where awaiting some for there customers, why had they not had them? At last we reach the top, & apparently head of Customer service is a lady who has agreed that he should have had the spares for his customers & she is to recall some fro other garages on Monday to fulfill his requirements. I await with baited breath, but he seems certain that we will have the parts next week.

will let you all know the outcome.

I think to be fair autolines this new type of convertor from ZF with all the new torsional damping in is catching some OE people out. You need to remember that the transmission also has later build specs to go with it and some on here including canaryman have had the later one fitted that you mention and no different on the car to the old one. I hope it sorts yours out.

Let us know how you get on. Good luck Thumbs Up You don't stop playing because you get old, You get old because you stop playing.

AL, what are the symptoms of your steering shimmer? There are two quite separate ones;

1) First one is due to wheel balance or more precisely the stock steering rack being unable to damp any residual wheel imbalance. This has been rectfied with an upgraded sterring rack.

2) The second was a raspy/ vibration feel through the steering wheel between gearchanges and under load. I also had this one and had my torque convertor replaced which did not fix the prob. It ended up being a misalignment in the front diff which wore out a bearing. This was discovered after replacement of front wheels, torque convertor, prop shafts and front hubs.

Just a bit concerned you maybe pinning your hopes on a torque convertor which, in my case, was not the answer to the vibration RRS TDV6 Bluetooth, VR, Roof
