Reducing my RRS's Carbon Footprint.......

Just checked my fuel figures for May and my Sport has had a very quiet month. I have made a big effort to use it less................................. in the whole of May I only drove 390 miles and put 58 litres of diesel in it. The reduction in use has had little effect on my travel plans and I haven't really noticed the effect of using it less.

However in May while it was parked on my drive or in car parks I also flew to Europe and back 4 times, flew internally in the UK 4 times (ie 8 flights!) and covered nearly 1900 miles in my Defender travelling to offroading weekends and fun days. I have also travelled a fair bit on trains (mainly Luton/London and return and a ccouple of tube trains in London) both in the UK and Europe but didn't use one single bus or tram.
I can conclusively show that it is dead easy to reduce the carbon footprint of an RRS, but I don't think my cred at GP will be any higher for having tried so hard to cut it's use Rolling with laughter 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Spain 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

That sounds much like myself! I live in Manchester but work in London and if I don't drive down, I fly, which is more polluting per person travelling! Basically, I can't get too worried about it as I don't want to be driving around in a Prius, so its tough! Anyway, I feel great because my RRS has a sticker on the windscreen saying my carbon footprint for the first 45000mls has been offset! Does anyone know how LR do this?? 2013 RRS SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

They invest the appropriate charge with Climatecare who will further invest the money in cutting carbon emisions in countries that have not signed up to the Quioto (spelling ?) agreement. they will not plant trees in third world countries because trees get cut down then burnt thus producing CO2. what they will invest in is things like hydro electric and wind power. If they do it in countries that are signed up to Quioto then these goverments have agreed to cut emmisions and will take the credit and increase the tax we pay for running theese wonderfull cars Rolling with laughter

Tim,

I don't think the climate camp Org would agree with your theory as in actual fact all that flying has made it a hundred times worse Exclamation
