"We all face a major global problem, with 3,000 people per day being killed on the world's roads and over 40,000 people per year losing their lives within the European Union"

So do we ban cars? No, we make people drive safer.

Dont ban the guns, make them more difficult to get hold of is what I say. I was gutted when hand guns were banned here!

When your vetted for firearms in the UK, a police officer come to your house and weeks of checks are done, in USA its much easier. I say make it harder with better checks.

Tim, I live in London where most of these shootings occur and can assure you this an entirely separate issue. These are black gangs who dont conform with any laws! Now what do you do? Confused MY12 SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ebony/Piano/Sidesteps/Privacy/Overfinch Olympus/JLR DRLs

I agree with Kaine. Anyone found with a gun should be shot with it. A bit severe but it should sort out the problem Wink 2002 Discovery Adventurer LE

True MDP.., but we should still ban guns and do all we can to prevent them being obtained and used illegally. Andy's measures may be a little excessive.., but it might act as the missing deterrent that the existing law clearly doesnt provide?

Society has changed and isn't responsible enough to be trusted with guns!!! Evil or Very Mad MY12 SDV6 HSE Sumatra/Ebony/Piano/Sidesteps/Privacy/Overfinch Olympus/JLR DRLs

Criminalise guns and only the criminals have them. All the recent shootings have been with hand guns which have been illegal since 97. Since then hand gun crime has rocketed, the only people who gave up their hand guns were the law abiding ones and they didn't use them for crime anyway.

People kill others everyday in their cars, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol & speeding, do we ban all cars?

I have several shotguns and rifles, they are tools to carry out my sport, they are not their to make me feel powerful, my 7 year old lad shoots air rifles and has been brought up to respect guns but also to view them like a hammer or screw driver (both leathal in the wrong hands)

What needs to change in this country is the mystic of firearms so they are not worshipped by youngsters and adults alike. They are not in the slightest bit dangerous, it is only people using them that are.
