Spacer Making Noises

Hi All, I’m having issues with the rear right wheel which is making unsavoury noises with rotation of the wheel. They’re a sensible offset at 30mm from a quality supplier, a fellow forum members using the identical product without issue so it’s not the product. And I’ve had a 2nd set from the supplier which further eliminates the product. There’s no noise with the standard wheel only when spacer is fitted. Struggling to understand what could even be fouling or causing the noise which almost sounds like a backplate scrubbing. The only quirk I’m aware of to this corner is the brake pad wear sensor.
If anyone has constructive ideas would be really appreciated (there’s no vibration, just a frictional noise)

You'd need to try and describe the noise. Does it sound rotational or reciprocal?

I would suggest jacking the rear wheel up then taking a dead blow hammer and bashing the heck out of the tyre to see if you can repeat statically.

I would suggest the most obvious issue would be something happening with the caliber dust cover but doesn't really explain linked to the spacer.

Probably a cooked wheel bearing made apparent with the spacers due to the additional strain on the bearings. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

surely if it was the bearing he would get the same noise with the second set of spaces tried.

Slight irony Noexpert with your comments I did say there is zero drama with the standard setup,
If pushing a wheel out 30mm aprx 10% of the footprint would mean the bearings are run perilously close to their tolerance which they’re not. Porsche go racing with spacers and they don’t cock about with anything, Urban fit them to Cullinans (£400k+), and I know of Jeep owners who jump their trucks with much higher offsets on standard hubs and bearings. I have a high degree of mechanical sympathy and the vehicles not been over 30mph with the issue or over many miles. When i switched back 12 months ago the noise is absent. I’ve swapped back now the replacement set of hubcentric spacers are here and sourced a new locking nut from Belgium given JLR choose not to stock it any longer (absolute jokers).

The noise isn’t bearing related which would drone and vibrate Proportional to speed. This is a tinny percussive sound similar to a back plate being struck or rubbed on each wheel rotation. No vibrations and it’s silent with the windows closed. Wheels are a fresh refurb so wheel weights aren’t the issue, it occurred pre refurb too. Being as the wheels further out you’d think it’s further from all the components than closer…..which is obviously where I’m missing something. Clearance in the arch is fine it’s still in board of the arch lip by a decent margin.

If modification offends people that much there’s always mumsnet !!

If anyone’s has doubt about the strength and integrity of a spacer I’ve had the misfortune to crash test one this time last year when an Audi A4 struck the O/S rear wheel side on at 30mph bending the suspension sufficient to write the vehicle off, suspension mangled bodywork slightly as the Audi beltline went under my Jeep but alloy and hub remained connected spacer managed to distribute all that energy without failure which id imagine is quite a lot of force given my neck still isn’t recovered fully.
