Timed charging on P440e

Hi everyone
I've had the car for nearly a month now with no problems until the weekend
As with lots of people, we get a period of around 4 hours of really cheap electricity from midnight, so I have been using the timed charge facility. This has worked perfectly until the weekend when for the past 2 nights it has failed to charge
Has anyone else had this issue & is there a way to reboot/reset the onboard computer (I had a Tesla for the past 4 years & this seemed to fix most things!)
thanks in advance

timed charging

Hi. I have the opposite. It started charging at the start time, but just carried on after the end time untill I spotted it still charging hours later.

Anyone else had this, and found a way round ? ?

My low cost electricity window is long enough to fully charge the battery on mine, so I don't have that issue. However, I did have that problem with the iPace I had before. Although that was pre-Pivi Pro, it probably had similar quirks...

If I remember correctly, I had to set a departure time/day a few days ahead, so that the car was tricked into thinking there would be enough time to fully charge across more than one session. For some reason, it likes to head for 100%.

Hopefully that makes sense - it may or may not work, but it's worth a try.

Mine is the same and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes it stops and sometimes it carries on. I can find no circumstance that makes it more or less likely. I am just in the habit now of looking at my inControl App when I get up in the morning and pause charging if it is still going after the 7am end of cheap rate.

Very Odd. L461 P460e AB

you cant make it up can you !. I have had 2 good days where it stopped !

Were you on Octopus Mike ? I was really miffed when JLR stopped supporting intelligent charging as it was brilliant. Only JLR could stop something that worked brilliantly !

Not on Octopus and so I am not missing anything I didn't have. I am on EON EV rate which is not the cheapest night rate at 9.048p but it is the longest time on offer at 7 hours and that works best for me as I only charge off a 13A plug which gives me about 2.8kW or half a fill in the 7 hours. Usually enough for my daily running around.

Do let me know if you find a reason for its frequent failure to stop! L461 P460e AB

Hi Mike. Will do, BTW I have a car that costs in excess of 100K and it failed again to stop the charge at the set end time last night !.

How comes this doesn't affect everyone, or are we all just getting up early and checking ! Rolling with laughter Seriously you cant make this up. I have just found the same issue from 2021 on the Velar forum !

I think it is a very specific model and owner use case that comes up with this issue.

My wife has an Evoque PHEV but that battery is small and fills in the 7 hours so we would never know whether it would stop or not.

JLR struggled to make PHEVs due to parts shortages so there are not many about and half the users only have them to beat the BIK tax and never charge them. I have a mate in that category.

Another bunch of users will have a 7.5kW charger and that will fill in 7 hours so they won't know.

That just leaves you and me Rowdie.

I won't take it to a dealer just for this as they won't have a clue if they can't get a spanner on it. I have reported it on the App feedback but I hope that someone at JLR reads the forums and fixes the details like this as a Premium car manufacturer should.

Otherwise the car is lovely and I have had no other reason to need support. L461 P460e AB

Likewise ! And copied what you did on the feedback mail to JLR in the app

Did you try setting a departure day/time a few days ahead, to see if that workaround does the trick? 2023 P440e Dynamic SE

Thanks BigJim. I have tried it and it worked last night, so will see if it works over the coming weeks. Appreciate the workaround !

As you know the charging stops when you use the car.

So one workaround if it's happening is to use the app to unlock the car and then immediately lock it again with the app.

I am personally happy that no one is going to unplug the car and get in during those couple of seconds. 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

That's good. It's slightly quirky, but it worked consistently on my old iPace. 2023 P440e Dynamic SE

A little update on the issue of charging not stopping at the end of timed hours.

My car had settled into not stopping until a couple of weeks ago when JLR came to do my latest security update.

After they had left, it was stopping charging when it should. I couldn't believe that this was in the security update and indeed, a few days later it reverted to not stopping again. I therefore wondered whether Pivi Pro just gets itself into a muddle and it is the rebooting of the system that fixes it until the next time.

Having searched online as to how to reboot it, I did the reboot and its all working again. I doubt that this is a permanent fix but it only takes less than a minute.

For 24MY cars with no volume control button, you need to hold down the Telephone symbol button on the steering wheel for a longish time until the screen goes blank and then you can let go when the LR logo appears. Reboot complete. L461 P460e AB
