Roof Rails/Rack

Off to sunny North Wales soon on holiday. I can't risk having to leave the clubs behind so - am thinkinh abou getting some roof rails or a rack so that I can take my roof box.

Any thoughts oir advice would be appreciated.

I saw somone recently added the roof rack but I don't want this on all the time.

From memory, I think the "permanent" part of the roof rail system is only the holes that are left in the roof trim when you fit the rails. You can remove the rails as they are simply screwed in and plug the holes with rubber grommets for when it rains. Roof racks used to be common topic on here a long while ago - don't remember anyone talking about them recently.

Look at your RRS and if your black roof strip has little grommits on it (3 on each side) you attach the roof rails through these holes if not you will have to drill your own or get some new ones from LR. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Thanks for the response.

Is it just me or does it seem a bit odd to have to drill holes in any case to add roof rails to a car.

Yes! LR originally made you drill holes until they realised that they should supply them pre drilled! 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

I belive that the holes were pre-drills from the '07 model onward. Before, holes needed to be drill. Range Rover Vogue ‘17 TDV6

I have pre drilled holes. Incredible advance in technology.

I just got a roof rail set on ebay from Marshells, which worked out about £40 less than from my local dealer.

Still cost £290 which is alot for something I will only use a couple of weeks a year.
