Removal of center console in L320 my2012

Hiya all
Problem i have, is the power supply ( Cigarette Lighter ) in front center console is no longer working .

i am able to unclip PS and lift it up slightly but wires are very short, so unable to access that way
can i lift the silver panel out which has the Gear dial out , or do i have to remove the whole center console to access the wiring for the PS , it aint the fuse , i have already checked that

TIA

keith

Did mine on Monday. Unclip the rectangular cd cover by slipping a thin blade under the middle and prising out.

You’ll then see 2 Philips head screws. Take these out and then you can lift the whole centre console out from the rear end. Make sure the fridge lift is open first. Takes a bit of heft and you may need a plastic trim tool remover, but it’s doable.

The centre console is held in by 3 or so tangs.

Oh - forgot to mention. You need to remove the gear knob first by popping it in neutral and lifting firmly up.

Probably best to disconnect the battery as well, unless you want all the warning lights going off.

It’s not very hard. If you don’t have trim removal tools your fingertips will hate you. Do NOT pry up at the very end under the cubby lid. Pry just ahead of this. Prying at the very end can break the trim piece. Do NOT tilt it side to side at an angle, you will break off the tabs that lock into the clips. It takes a new trim piece to fix this as well.

You’ll know you have it when you swear you broke something. And it’s possible you did. It’s basically trying to be as delicate as you can be while ripping something apart with extreme prejudice. I’ve had mine out several times and it only gets easier if you break the tabs off, which you don’t want to do.

I think you just forcibly press the power socket out. Can’t recall at the moment. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

I'd go further than that and say DO NOT attempt this unless you have the necessary trim tools. They cost just a few quid and make a 'tricky and I'm likely to break something' job into a very simple one.

I'm sure you've probably got some already, but 'just in case' . . .

Get some decent ones as well. The cheap ones snap.
