Drop Bodsy a message. I wouldn't call him as he's always on the road and can't look at his diary whilst driving. Be persistent though, 07770 638023. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Dont flush it can move Censored to places you dont want it . New filter and refill. How do you know its even full ?

My jag took 6.5 litres to re fill but only 3.5 drained out . Always listen to old people or when they die you will live on in ignorance.

Most ppl flush these.

Either way you will end up with a gearbox rebuild sometime on a 6 speed

I got mine done at JAS in York. May be a bit too far for you though.

A drain and refill doesn't replace all of the oil - much of it remains in the torque converter as your Jag nicely demonstrated. Flushing it replaces all of the oil. As for moving crud to unwanted places, it's no different to driving it - the flush machine is just plugged in to the cooler loop as I understand it and draws fluid out and puts fluid back as if it was just going out to the cooler. So crud shouldn't be any worse than otherwise.

Mine has been flushed, the filter is, I think, original, and it's got over 150k miles on it and still going. (I hope that hasn't jinxed it!) 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

When doing mine the other week, Bodsy said his old D3 was on 275k having just had oil flushes and the unit still on its original filter. Impressive mileage none the less. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

It's been interesting today, trying to get prices for a transmission fluid and filter change.

My usual tech is nervous about quoting because he's never used the separate pan and filter kit before. He advised against flushing the box because of the risk of circulating crud.

The local LR specialist also advised against flushing for the same reason, but also won't change the filter because they had so many that refused to seal properly and leak. They claim it's been 5 years since they did a filter change but will drop the old fluid and put 5-6 litres of new in.

Then I spoke to another LR specialist who does a type of flush but without detergent, so basically they push out the old fluid with new with the engine running, until it runs clear.

None of them sound ideal but I'm swaying towards the last solution. Thoughts?

Thanks for the suggestions, but based in Dorset so a local would be best. What did you have done? Flush or fluid drop/filter change?
