Assuming the new sensor is okay you will have to look closer at the plug or check the wiring. have you put the multi meter on the connectors have you done continuity test ? |

It turns out it was a wiring issue. The yellow wire (+5v) was broken about 1" from the main harness, which meant it was a right pig to splice a new piece of wire on but finally managed to do it.
