fuel burning heater

hello everyone, a strange thing happening with the FBH on my 2012my RRS, when i set the timer for the FBH on the infotainment screen the heater doesn't work, i've tried the manual 'instant heat' button and the heater starts up and runs for maybe 60-90 seconds then shuts down, yet when i start the engine the FBH runs fine and stays on for quite some time, i have checked for any faults or codes with my iid scan tool but no faults or codes present, fuel level always above half full, battery in tip top condition, any thoughts ???

So the heater starts okay but doesnt stop on long but only happen sometimes with no soft code stored? just sounds like it had a
splutter with fuel very surprised it didn't show it self on IID.

You say it runs for 60-90 seconds, but is this just it's start cycle and then shuts down because it hasn't fired up or does it actually fire and not run. Are you getting any excess smoke or fuel vapour from the exhaust at all.

Hi lads, thanks for the replies, yes the burner does fire up, a small waft of smoke and the usual smell of fumes, runs for a minute, maybe two and then cycled down and shuts off, start the engine and it runs normally, as i said, no codes on iid 🤷‍♂️

Have you used the IID tool to bleed/prime the system and check operation to see if that helps at all.

My FBH only runs for about two minutes when I hit manual heat as well, very annoying. My timed heat works like clockwork though, in fact it’s running right now. Did you activate the system yourself or this is a factory option? 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory

it wasn't activated on my car but i did it myself with the iid tool, works fine when engine running but not when i select 'manual heat' i haven't tried the timer so i might just try that and see what happens....

I’m in the same boat. Check the timed heat/vent and see if it works. I’m still trying to find why the manual heat/vent option doesn’t work as it should on mine. Probably some odd setting or module that needs to be activated. 2011 RRS HSE Luxury 3.0 TDV6 Fuji White on Ebony/Ivory
