OK success! Found the splice, even though mine only had two. Chopped, stripped and soldered, job done. Happy.

Door locks are unreliable on these and need changing lots. You can get cheap latches new on eBay.

Check round the door seal for any rust signs or water.

Door seal seems fine, so I've done the A bar modding and the air intake under the windscreen so hopefully that should be the end of water ingress. |
