The place to put the stands is the same place that you put the jack. I'd strongly suggest you get a bottle jack or a trolley jack and avoid using the emergency jack provided with the vehicle. It's not very good and has been known to fail. If you're doing these types of project DIY, a trolley jack really is a must. You can then jack the front end up on the front subframe in one go and put the stands under chassis rails at the jacking points.

there are 2 gurders that run along the car. They are about 12" in. Use these.

Thanks, yes the supplied jack must be the worst one ive ever seen, i have 2 small trolly jacks which i will use as well, cheers |

Most of us bite the bullet and buy a high lift trolley jack, something like this;
