New Android 9 Discovery/RRS Android Stereo System

To not totally disrupt Gerd1986's post i have created a new one for this .

From Ali express i purchased the newly released Android 9 4GB/64GB Stereo For the Disovery4/RRS

This arrived today and here's a few pics of what i received

My plan is to get this test fitted today and maybe write some instructions . As this came with Zilch !

Was quite surprised that it looks like they thought about the gap between the dash and the screen and made a bracket .

I did noticed that it didnt come with an AUX cable? i am assuming they are tapping in on the harness .

But first i need to check out my 2nd hand discovery screen and make sure that works so i can transplant the inners over ;D

Ill share the link once i verify it fits and works Wink. Dont want to recommend a product that doesn't work correctly.

I'm dubious about the clock trim fitting without being modified ! but i could be proved wrong.

Im going to run with this LCD board with the bodges , im going to solder the capacitor back on though Very Happy

I still think it uses AUX , but possibly via the harness.

Ill test then take some pics of the harness before putting trim back.

Maybe the capacitor floating around in the bag was just a spare... just kidding Laughing That's some epic soldering talent they have, assuming the solder bridges are meant to be there at all, of course.

Any chip numbers visible so you can look up the schematic for the one that has a solder bridge? Looks like they've etched the numbers off the two main chips?

No doubt it has a 'QC passed' sticker on it, of course Mr. Green 2014 BMW 530d Touring, 2006 BMW 650i, 2018 Mini Cooper S

looks like they have etched off on 3 of the chips.

I have soldered the capacitor back on .

I have turned it on outside .. Only thing that doesnt work is the factory OEM screen lol !

IM asuming something is up with this board.

im going to remove the bridges and see what happens Wink

Have you connected the display ribbon from the old screen to the new one?

As it's a fibre optic signal I'm not sure where it would get audio from on the harness, anyway will leave you to figure it out and report back Very Happy

It looks like it piggy backs off of the satnav module . Thats where im assuming its getting it from .. As the Rear Aux has to go somewhere doesn't it ?

Besides that , I cant get the OEM interface to work still Sad , Just lines ! .

I could hear the radio though ! , just couldn't do nothing

Ok going to give this another try today . As everything is dismantled Very Happy

I have put them solder bridges back , they look like the only hand held solder points on there . So im thinking maybe they are on purpose. I have seen it on prototype boards before where they do stuff like that to save the cost of printing new pcb .

I put the capacitor back on.

Im assuming these are the correct boards from the original LCD . The back 2 boards ? the little blue board is what i got with the new stereo ( and lines up with existing holes ).

There is another board on behind the LCD ( Original unit) .. Has large capacitors on it etc .. But im assuming that is to drive the old LCD.

Ribbon cable was blue side up .. But i have decided to give it ago the other way round.
