Just use Stainless Steel pop rivets won't corrode again, all side steps on the RRS1 are the same although the kit part number changed when they changed the plastic trims included in the kit from pre-cut ones to uncut ones to save a few pence.

An old trick when using pop rivets is to put a washer on the other side to the rivet head so the expansion of the rivet grips the washer, not the base metal. This enlarges the clamping area, particularly useful if the original hole is in poor condition due to corrosion. Use a washer sized as close to the rivet as possible and of course make sure the rivet is long enough to clamp all 3 parts. RRS HSE Dynamic SDV6 2014
