After a little further digging I refer to the Replacement of the Turbo.
When I replaced the Turbo Charger amongst other components it was then that I approached Land Rover requesting a Steel Gasket that according to the Workshop Manual fits the LH Exhaust Manifold to the VGT.
I was informed by parts that the Turbo required no such gasket. Surely this would leave both Manifold and Turbo open to leaks, possibly even noise etc.
I have researched several forums whereby members have stated that no Gasket is required or even supplied for that matter. Maybe I am getting somewhat confused etc but surely these 2 mating surfaces would indeed require seating without any chance of the escape of Exhaust gases.
I have supplied a screenshot in my Gallery of the Workshop manual whereby the component description is identified although this is in the Engine Section, not Turbo repair section.
What has drawn me to this conclusion is the fact that the knock/tap is coming from the mid section of the rear LH Engine area situated not far from where these mating surfaces are located. Hopefully once I have a few bits and bobs removed this will become clear?
Any thoughts guys regarding whether there should indeed be a Steel Gasket at Manifold to VGT or not?
