Jimbg, I know I should get the amber warning in the mirrors. But I'm not? But if it had failed I would expect I would get a warning in the dash? |

The behaviour you describe sounds like it should work. The ‘dot’ light in the mirror is only illuminated when the car is below a certain speed (i.e. the blind spot monitor isn’t supposed to kick in), you have it turned off in the menu or there is a fault with the system. At all other times that light should not be on. When there is a vehicle in your blind spot, the other light in the mirror with the car symbol should come on. If you have closing vehicle sensing as well and a car is approaching fast from behind, the car symbol light should flash. Your car needs to be travelling above the minimum speed threshold for these systems to work.

I was on a dual carriage way. The weather was heavy rain and spray, maybe that could be an issue? |

That certainly could be an issue but it should show a triangle and message on the dash when that happens. In my last car I had the problem once while driving in heavy rain and twice while in heavy snow. In case of rain, the problem went away when I left the car and came back to it later. When it was because of snow, the issue went away when the snow and ice buildups melted away. However, on each occasion I got clear message on the dash (and an audible alert as well IIRC). Something along the lines of “blind spot sensor blocked, system unavailable”. Every time I cleared the fault (using IIDTool) or disabled/enabled the feature, the fault came back on the dash. That’s why I’m surprised yours has done it silently. Mine was a 16MY so may be something different there. Thank you everyone for all your comments and advice. The car is new to me (picked it up Friday) So I will feedback my findings to the dealer I purchased the car from. Unfortunately I live in Cornwall and the dealer (not Land Rover) is in Wigan.

I'll swap you my passenger side sensor if you like as it has a mind of its own and sees stuff that isn't there. Hardly noticeable during the day but a pain in the arse at night as it just goes off on one randomly. However, as there are no fault codes the dealer won't/can't fix it. FFS. Ferrari F430 Spider F1

sounds like your on/off indication might be backwards. If you get amber lights in mirrors when off, turn off and go for a test drive. |

Spleen, in my last 4 Land Rovers all with BLIS the local overhanging shrubbery on the country lanes where I live used to trigger warnings on the passenger side, it rendered the system useless on country roads with overgrown verges. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
