RRS 3.6 V8 diesel or 4.4 V8 petrol ??

Hi I'm new , haven't got the car yet but about to get one , always wanted one of these cars and as we all don't want to buy a money pit...I've narrowed it to one of these engines , I'm not on about economy more about reliability

Good or horror stories both welcome , thanks Thumbs Up

I'm biased too!
I have had the 4.2SC for 2 and a half years and (touch wood) not had a single engine issue (had a few electrical issues though).
From what I know, it depends on the typical daily journeys you do too. Short daily journeys = petrol. Longer daily journeys = Diesel or Petrol (if you can afford petrol!) 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

I think you’re limiting your self to the oldest RRS when looking at the 4.4, at least if you look st the 4.2 you can buy a car that at its youngest could be 10 years old.

Depending on budget, I’d look at the 2010MY TDV8 or 5.0 SC, if the budget won’t stretch, a 09MY TDV8 or 4.2 SC. A perfect service history is essential and if on the TDV8, the Turbos have been replaced. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
2012 5.0 SC AB. Sadly written off by a campervan

1943 Whites M16 Halftrack (Current)
16 plate Eurofighter Typhoon, 2 x Eurojet engines with 20,000lbs thrust each. 1380mph

Wouldn't it be cheaper to fix 4.4 one on 4.2 supercharger itself cost 400+ ... Don't mind repairs but don't want to put fortune into it all the time , and if it runs fine I might think of converting it to LPG but that's a long term , in there any 4.2 running LPG here ?? Question

I have a SC with lpg / lube kit also. Runs OK. No dash lights.
Have had to have alternator, ac condenser, coolant temp sensor and intercooler rad repaired in the last 10 months tho..
Lovely to drive tho. I wouldn't have a diesel car ever.

No faults now but was getting the P0172 P0171 code but found that to be the oil filler cap not sitting on properly on mine and i think that's the most common fault that shows which is lean bank 1 and 2 Thumbs Up

The early ones can also have the aux pump for the supercharger wired the wrong way round so the pump actually runs back wards but easy enough to change the pump yourself and costs about £100-120 for the pump that puts it into limp mode when the spirited driving mode starts which is quite often lol Thumbs Up

Yeah but quite surprised that it was so simple on mine to get rid of the codes but took a while to find
