Transmission fluid

Hi,
I'm looking to change the transmission oil over the weekend, can someone tell me how much transmission oil a range rover sport 2006 2.7 would take if it was completely empty?
Thanks for any help
Regards
Mike

I would be amazed if you need more than 7 litres.

Usually 6 is sufficient

These boxes don't use the regular red ATF.

Use fluid for ZF6HP

This is worth a read. Applicable to yours

If you're doing the "empty some out, refill, empty some out, refill" method then you're wasting your time and money. Most of the oil is in the torque converter and is not changed by just "emptying the oil". At best, you remove about 40% per empty cycle. So you end up with a mix of old and new oils.

A full flush requires about 10 litres of oil. It can be done DIY but is usually done someone with a flush machine. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Note that is for the full sized RR.

The gearbox cooler is different on the RRS. The pipe is near the top of the engine bay,

I bought this with the intention of pumping the new oil back in through the cooler line.. do you think it will work or should I get something else?

Something else not electric

Use method in your link. Gravity wasn’t it.

A funnel and suitable size hose

I thought it would have been better to pump it back in but I'll just do what he did.. im assuming i just put the pipe in the filler plug, bring the funnel higher than the plug and let gravity do the rest

Yes

Arrows for fluid direction are for petrol models.
Opposite for diesel

Did you look at the link to the disco site ?

No, only just noticed it on the other thread, I'll have a look over it in work tomorrow. At first glance it does seem to be exactly what I need though, so thanks for that
