EPB seized on; Wind back shoes?

Park brake seized on, can't operate emergency release (tried removing gear lever surround, just about get to wire loop, moves about an inch then rock solid doesn't release brake).
Is it a case of pull fuse 8, jack rear wheels up and wind back the brake shoes using the adjuster in the drum?
Bet it's not as easy as that is it?
Or any other suggestions that doesn't involve a gallon of unleaded please.

you need to align the adjuster hole with the adjuster, which isn't easy with the brake jammed on!

Emergency release very rarely works but you should be able to pull on it more than an inch,,, need to put some serious effort into it and see if it will move more. Have had the same issue, dirt and neglect are the big enemy,,, hence the screeching noise when it tries to operate, the module just winds the shoes up tighter and tighter. Even cutting the cables on mine would not release the brakes so I think you stand no chance trying to wind them back. In the end cost me new disc's, pads, shoes etc and module. 2010 RRS, TDV8

I'm beginning to feel very despondent about this now.
I couldn't wriggle the EPB switch out despite previous posters help, so fabricated a hook using some steel rod and tried to pull it via the gear lever aperture, so wasn't pulling it absolutely vertically. I had wrapped the steel rod round a length of wood to form a "T" handle and it wouldn't shift.
What really cheeses me off is that I had them stripped and adjusted in January to prevent just this issue.
Thanks for your help guys anyway.

If you have had the shoes serviced, then Have a look at this :

See if you can somehow open the EPB in the middle of the car and disconnect the cables???

If the problem is with unmaintained shoes, you can remove the caliper and hit the disc from the rear to attempt to remove it. Then tap it back on, and see if you can rotate the disc and align with the adjuster screw and release the shoes. I managed this but it was a fluke I think!

Disappointing seeing you had them serviced recently, providing they were done correctly. As Andy has pointed out,, could be a problem with the module itself that is caused the issue. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Local indi has read codes (different post) and pronounced the module Fubar'ed so will need replacing. This was when it was still driveable, just screeching. He was a bit busy so I said i'd bring it back, no rush Banging Head
I can see where your coming from Andy and it may work as the discs and pads were new when i got it about 5k ago, so should hopefully not be lipped inside the drum.
I'm off on jollies to Florida next Tuesday with loads to do, so I may just forget about the RRS till I get back.
Thanks again chaps.

If the module had failed, I would have expected the manual release to have worked. Could it not be seized cables? 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I am more inclined to discount seized cables as it would auto release, albeit with a screech when driving off. That was before it completely seized that is.

I think the emergency release would only work providing the shoes etc are nice and free 2010 RRS, TDV8

You may well be correct. My understanding is that the emergency release actually disengages the cables inside the module from the mechanism that puts them under tension. I would hope that, bearing in mind the brakes were stripped and adjusted in January, the shoes should be free to move.
I will have another go with the emergency release when I get back off holiday, failing that I have breakdown recovery to get it to the garage.

My thought train was that the manual release may have worked however if the cables are seized, the brake would still be stuck on. My old Mondeo had similar when the protective tube over the inner cable got pulled into the outer Bowden and jammed the brake on on one side. In fact, is it both wheels stuck on or just one?
