Actually, no I haven't. I have put it in gear, no creep, bit of gas and it settles down as in rear brakes not releasing. I could jack it up, one side at a time in neutral and see if the wheels rotate. Again, it can wait till after hols, but thanks for the thought.

Hallelujah! My lad (maintenance engineer) came round this evening and both of us, using controlled force, managed to operate the emergency release.
When people say pull hard enough to break it, then pull some more they aren't wrong! We managed it using a hooked steel rod and a 18" bit of 1"x1" as a handle (think I will keep that in the car).
Fuse 8 removed and mobile at last (no fuel gauge though). Just need to get it booked for when I get back from hols
