Hi all has anyone tried fitting a deployable towbar to there l494, looking at one on eBay.

I haven’t fitted one but I’ve had my bumper off & it looks fairly easy to do & the wiring should be there.

You might also need this to operate the Towbar,it goes in the panel on the offside of the boot.

Hi tyrefitter , yes is that the switch that’s goes in the boot?, also some of the ones for sale on eBay are just the deployable towbar and some have a sguare subframe that the towbar structure would attach to? I won’t be towing a caravan ,it’s just for my bike rack , I think I’ll need a electric module as well ?

I’m sure the square frame is for the full fat & not the sport,I haven’t seen the frame on mine but I will double check tomorrow.Ill also take a pick where the switch goes. Andy.

not fitted either but did have a Removable bar on our L494 and understood it needs a new subframe that the removable or electric deploy are fasten to

I had a D5 complete towbar for sale (long story ) that fits in a similar way, one of the guys on D5 bought and fitted it to his new D5

Riverblanche that looks slightly different as the L494 fastens to the rear panel not to the chassis like the disco & L320,the L494 hasn’t got the chassis.Ive been under mine loads of times with having my own lifts & ive never seen the square frame.

Hi,
By coincidence a guy has just bought my rear tow point cover panel 👍

He turned up today to collect it, as he has just had a Westfalia removable bar fitted and the support beam that has been replaced was in the boot 🥳

So this is what has just been removed, new cross beam with bar attached in its place

Thanks tyrefitter, do you know what LR mean by towing preparation, it was listed on mine but I’ve no towbar fitted ?

Probably means wiring is there.I took a picture of the square frame & it fastens underneath where their is pre drilled holes in body.It goes round the battery case.
