Hi all......is there anything in particular that you've got to do when Jacking the rrs up ? Jacking one corner!! And is it any different when using a garage ramp, or 4 post lift. Thanks in advance

passenger side can be a pain with the trolley jack as there is the suspension tank at the front and compressor cover at the back to avoid.

It's n/s front I've got to Jack up as well lol poping to my mates garage later so not sure if he will you a ramp or not, got a caliper sticking and I'm hoping it's just the sliders or I'll need to order a new caliper.
Just I'm sure someone said something about when Jacking to leave boot open ? And put it in highest suspension setting ?

Jack up under bottom arm,,ive never raised vehicle to jack up & ive done hundreds & never had a problem,,,you can lift the suspension to make it easier but make sure you have a good trolley jack & put a axle stand under vehicle.

I bought a bottle jack just for the sport, I found that unless you want to spend big bucks the jack won't lift high enough without blocks etc.

raise the suspension to highest mode as per the handbook then I use my 3 tonne trolly jack. No issues so far. Just had a sticky rear calliper issue as well the pistons weren't moving on passenger rear and driver rear had a sticky pad resulting in complete set of callipers, discs and pads. My main issue the discs and pads were only 10K old so I think the issue was masked by Knutsford Range Rover before I took delivery

Yer think I'll need new caliper and disk and pads, n/s front disks is getting very hot after a good few miles, only noticed when I was rinsing car of and water touched the disc. And very slightly pulls to the right when braking so obviously doing more work than the n/s didn't want to order new straight away as was told could be sticking in sliders ?

apologies for going off at a tangent, but are regular tyre fitters such as kwikfit, Formula 1 etc OK to use to change tyres, tracking, etc? Merc C220 estate Sport AMG

I just jack the whole thing up at the front

on the calliper, if pads are low sometimes the pistons can stick a bit since they are long way out, it also helps to push the pistons fully back while theyre off to free them, but remember to watch fluid level and pump pedal after to push them back out. (sorry if im teaching how to...eggs) , but ive had issues before with the m3 callipers having similar issues.

also, has yours got brembos mate?, aren't they a fixed calliper with 4 pistons?

No not brembos mate, and the pads have got loads on them really so not to sure about that. I'm having someone look at it as my days of playing with motors are over lol I used to love doing my own bits but no longer have the tools etc to do it anymore.

say if new discs,calipers and pads will be required in your case just saying what I ended up needing. I am hoping the Guy Salmon can come through with some reimbursement on the total bill as I went in with it today to talk to the service manager who is now investigating. I have also said I would like the rear ACE replacing under warranty as it has a leak and came as an advisory on my MOT
