What do you mean by dead ? No ign lights on dash, or the starter doesn't engaged and turn the engine over, ticking noise and flickering dash lights or something else. We need more detailed info.

central locking works, but the dash doesn't fully light up, no ticking that i can recall, but will listen out for it next time, engine doesn't turn over. i push the start button and nothing happens. i leave it for 10-15 mins and vehicle starts without a problem. I'm pretty sure battery is fine, but i guess its worth following the procedure you recommend |

I seem to remember a chap having a similar issue, for him it was the earth strap from the starter to the body that was hanging off.
