On a serious note (I know it's hard when referring to the Float)

Muddy, Can the Phev have 4 wheel drive all the time, i.e, Does the petrol engine deliver drive to the rear wheels, or does it only have 4 wheel drive when fully charged as battery power is the only power source to the rear wheels. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures

What a serious question Shocked

Laughing

It's 4wd all the time on electric

When the batteries are low it switches to petrol and either drives electric motors or front wheels depending on speed/power required - it also tops up batteries

Batteries never fully discharge and retain some power to run rear motor when it detects you need extra power or grip and at low speeds pulling away

There is also a 4wd switch which is electronic version of a Diff lock - this locks front and rear motors to simulate Diff lock for difficult conditions

Everything is done seamlessly by the onboard computer and so far not a single glitch or warning lamp as it does it's thing Mr. Green Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Actually we had some heavy rain the other day and lot of standing water but it didn't suffer from the steering wheel grab experienced on RRS so another tick for the Mitsubishi Mr. Green Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Never had a problem with standing water like that. Might be tyre specific or maybe the different front toe settings on the TDV8 help.

Although it's fun (and easy Wink ) taking the Mickey out of your milk float, the reality is that for most RRS owners it does everything they need. Most don't tow or do anything away from tarmac: the huge ability of the RRS is thus wasted most of the time.

I was impressed by the Mitsubishi PHEV when I drove one last year. The technology is very nicely implemented. Just let down by the lack of a decent tow capacity and it is a tarmac-only car really. The 4wd is more a way of implementing the electric drive than it is providing go-anywhere ability.

I keep thinking about getting something like a milk float or the BMW i3 for work. Problem is that the RRS would then be sat on the drive most of the time and that's not good for them. Also, the RRS does have the perma-grin effect as they say over in Disco3...

Tricky decisions.

Thing is, if I was going to spend £30k on another vehicle, I'd rather buy a FFRR or a D4 than an EV. Embarassed 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The first MY10 RRS I bought had 20" summer tyres as standard and was definitely designed for dry Tarmac - I'd rather take my chances in the PHEV factory guise than that before I fitted 19" M&S tyres Whistle

I agree with you on the PHEV meeting the needs of most owners - that's why I bought one Cool

If I still had the twin axle and camping in farm fields I would of kept the Black Edition and run it into the ground I think but for my lifestyle now the PHEV suits me and once I get my tax rebate back will have cost me £25k with 3 year servicing and 5 year warranty - I would of been buying a load of trouble for that much money if I bought a LR Wink

Members in Scandinavia say it handles brilliantly in all conditions - that will do me Mr. Green

I would of liked a FFRR once upon a time but haven't bought used for years and I'm not paying £90k to be treated like Censored by the dealers and LR Shocked

Still fancy a series and a good Indy but right now I don't see myself crossing the threshold of a LR dealer any time soon Rolling Eyes

Last time I went in 2 LR dealer with faults on my DS they were looking at 6-8 weeks to look at it then order parts so another trip would be needed even though I gave them the Topix references with procedure - this was after I waited 20 minutes to speak to someone Evil or Very Mad

I have a creak on Mitsy drivers seat so called in unannounced this week at local dealer (not dealer who sold it) - 2 salesmen greeted me as I walked through door and guy on service desk got a mechanic to come and look - he examined it and said we will need to book it to sort - he walked back to service desk with me and explained. They could of done it this week but I needed a courtesy car so it would be 2 weeks. I can't remember the last time I got that level of service from a LR dealer Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
