I had an Evoque for a day. As you say the ride is pretty bad. No comparison with ANY year RRS. RRS, Discovery and FFRR have air suspension which other Land Rover models don't. That's what makes the ride much softer in these cars and is the biggest difference. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

That's good to know. That ride had nearly shattered my Desire to own a Land Rover product. Even my 2009 M3 felt better |

Hmm that doesn't sound right ... I have been in a friend's 2008 M3 a few times and the ride was pretty rough. This was expected of course because the car is meant for things other than comfort. The Evoque I drove was very bad in comparison to a RRS but was certainly softer than an M3. Either the Evoque you experienced had an issue or my friend's M3 has a problem Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I have owned MY10 and MY13 RRS while being loaned Evoques and there is no comparison - the evoque engine sounds like a bag of spanners and the ride was harsh. I guess you get what you pay for hence the price difference. Will be interesting to see how the new engine improve things reading magazine reports

Maybe it was due to the fact that in the M3 I was always driving as opposed to being a rear seat passenger in the Evoque. When I had my electronic damper control on its stiffest setting in the M3 it was a little harsh but in comfort mode it certainly felt better than the Evoque to me. Agree on the Sound of the Evoque engine. I was told it was the lowest spec/displacement diesel engine (whatever size that may be) and it did indeed sound like a bag of Spanners. Nevertheless it will still sell very well and always be popular |

To me the evoque is about looks and very little else. |

I had a brand new Evogue last week for a few days, and i thought the ride was better than my 12 plate RRS HSE. Maybe they have tweaked the suspension on the newer cars. It was also quick off the mark too, unlike the RRS. Would i buy one? No, way over priced for what they are. Plenty more other cars out there, much cheaper and better value. |

Ady 555 the Evoque I used was also brand new at the time (2013) with < 300 miles. Has to be one hell of a tweak to make the ride better than RRS I had a 2009 pre-facelift RRS back then and there was simply no comparison in ride quality. I would get my suspension checked out if I were you Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Nothing wrong with my suspension Fkarim. That Evogue simply rode the bumps better. But, i have also thought that the RRS has an harsh ride. |

S'funny, I found it to be an excellent vehicle with many strong areas. The biggest down side for me was the restricted view out because of the small glass area. If one wanted a capable occasional 4x4 for two people then it ticks lots of boxes. If one wants a family 4x4 then it's way too small. One thing I did like about the two I drove for a week at a time was the brakes. The brakes were excellent. The funniest thing about the Evoque is that you get what is basically the RRS2's interior in a much cheaper vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

RRS ride at 50mph + is like a magic carpet. Some bump-thump at lower speeds with nasty dips in the road, especially ones with a sharp edge. If you stay on 20s and below you will love the RRS ride compared to almost any other car. If you go 22s, it will be like the M3

It'll be interesting to see what the new 2 litre engine does to residuals on the old 2.2. The new engine will give better economy, refinement and "go" as I understand it. Certainly the old 2.2 was never the most economical or refined lump but it's not as bad as some people like to make out. Certainly seems to be more reliable than the bigger units in the RRS! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

A local dealer told me they had to refund one early Ewok owner because the fuel consumption was so far away from the claimed figures and he was going to make it into a crusade he was so angry
