Scotland 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

Just so I get it right in my head, please let me know if you spot an obvious mistake.

Can you point me in the right direction of which diode I should purchase.

Cheers 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

Do a quick hook up under the passenger seat
If I remember right as long as you provide the camera with 12volt ignition as we previously said, you can use the small black press switch supplied with the GVIF to switch the picture on the screen at anytime
The key is powering the camera on ignition

I think I've got that, but I don't want to power the reverse light when I use the switch to power the camera but still have the luxury of the camera turning on when I select reverse, looking at my drawing above do I have the diode in the right place? you may need to select it in my gallery to get a clearer view of it.
I'm thinking the diode would need to be left of where the grey wire connects to the camera positive wire but before it connects to the reverse light positive wire! And not where I have it placed on the drawing. Hope that makes sense Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
Sorry for being a pain Laughing

Edit, I'm thinking more this

Sorry for the late reply.

My drawing is probably not to clear.

Where you see ignition, I meant switched power, I took it from the rear cig lighter.

Then you have I switch, that I added to be able to turn on the camera and have the screen switch automatically to the camera.

The grey wire is the trigger for the screen automatic switching, is normally connected directly to the reverse light, same as the camera power.

In my set up, when I select reverse, the grey wire and camera are powered by the reverse light wire.

When not in reverse and I select the extra switch to on, the grey wire and the camera are powered by the cig lighter wire.

The diode is there so that the reverse light do not come on when using the switch.

I did not draw the power to the GVIF, but is as in your drawing, top right.

As diode I used this:

But only because I have few left over from the reading light mod.

Cannot comment on yours, but looks like it should work. '08 RRS TDV8

Stop making your life complicated use. KIS ---keep it simple
Don't need diodes etc just follow my tips
Power camera with ignition feed you will NOT get a feedback through grey wire of GVIF unit on being used as trigger
To view camera when moving forward etc press black switch supplied with GIVF unit to cycle through available sources including camera

Well, that is your choice.
Personally, I prefer to have the camera powered only when in use and I like the automatic switching when I select reverse, a lot easier and simpler than having to select reverse, then select the input with with the black switch, then select forward and have to press the switch again 3 times to get back to the previous screen and so on.

As I said personal choice. '08 RRS TDV8

If I remember right they trigger off the grey wire don't do the can connections
If you want the option of a picture at anytime the camera will need to be ignition live
You can get that from the power socket wiring on the nearside panel
The unit comes with a neat small switch to switch picture source

I've done this I think but it doesnt seem to work, camera powered to socket but doesn't switch on, when I introduce the grey wire (switch wire) the camera displays a picture on screen straight away (expected) but when the power is removed from the grey wire I get no picture, I can switch through the channels after I remove the grey wire but nothing , now if I plug the camera into one of the other AV sockets I get a picture without the grey switch wire no problem, if I then introduce the grey wire again it auto switches as I'd expect but too the designated rear camera source AV socket which the cam is no longer on.

Do I need to jumper the designated camera AV socket to an AV socket to allow the above.

Please be patient I am a total novice and believe it or not I have read a tonne ove theads on it, I would get it pro fitted but I've been waiting to get my blackvue fitted for two weeks now and I'm still waiting. 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

It is working correctly.

You cannot select the camera input using the the push switch. You can select only "RGB", "AV1", "AV2" and "AV3".

The camera input works only with power applied to the grey wire. '08 RRS TDV8

So how can I view the rear camera without being in reverse? Like when driving along, I thought that's what everyone was doing! 2007 RRS 2.7 HSE - Java Black

You have 2 ways of doing it, well 3 actually.
If you want automatic switching, the grey wire must be powered by the rear lights(or from the gearbox switch, but I haven' looked into where/how)t

As I understand, your camera is always powered, then:

1. A slight variation on my set up.
Add a switch that takes switched power( you can use the same that powers the GVIF) and applies power to the grey wire, you have to add a diode between the grey wire and the rear light so they do not come on wnen using the switch.
Downside: a little bit more work involved

2. Use a splitter for the camera video cable, feeding the video to the camera input of the GVIF and to one of the other AV inputs. The grey wire needs rear lights input for the automatic switching(no diode needed).
This way, when you select reverse, the screen switches to camera automatically, when not in reverse you can select the appropriate AV input using the GVIF switch(AV1, AV2, AV3)
Downside: You sacrifice one of the AV inputs.

3. You just feed the camera video to one of the 3 selectable AV inputs.
Downside: No automatic switching in reverse. You sacrifice one of the AV inputs. '08 RRS TDV8
