£2400 for the 22in wheels when you get 21in as standard is taking the Censored imo. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

That's no more than people can ultimately option on the standard RRS though. I've just checked and found a set of 22s for more than that on the site.

But RR get to keep your standard brand new 21in. for three grand you could get another set of wheels. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

But isn't that how it works when optioning a wheel anyway with LR? If you spec an AB spec V8, you still pay extra for bigger wheels on the configurator

I'm not sure who gets to keep the wheels that car is delivered on when 'dealer fit' wheels are ordered.

Compared to the wheels I ordered for my AB at £3120 the SVR ones are cheap.

I think £2400 is fine. The tyres are going to be expensive, among the biggest fitted to any car, and the rims similarly. Then factor in they're made in relatively small quantities and the price is as I would expect. For comparison, replacement rear wheels on my 911 are £1500. Each. Without tyres. My guess is replacement tyres will be at least £400 each, maybe more.

This car is pushing the boundaries and we'll have to recalibrate our ideas of costs. The brake discs and pads are also going to be expensive. If you want a car with this performance and size, it's going to be expensive, especially if it's driven hard.

The only concern I have about the big wheels is what ride comfort and noise compromises have been made. Probably fine on French motorways but on the concrete southern section of the M25? Mark

Yes, is Camouflage an unlisted option?

No, its a necessary evil for us people that are fortunate enough to run these things at the sharp end. We work through different stages of camouflage as the programme develops. That was actually my car at Goodwood...

Rest assured on noise and comfort levels Mark, we've not compromised on that aspect

Thanks for the reg. Comfort level and noise.. That was my concern too. But how come the higher noise level expirienced on the normal RRS with 22" was not picked during testing?

Btw.. Best job ever u have there!

I can't say regarding the core tyres as SVO came to this programme about a year into the base car development and we had more than enough things to work on with this Very Happy

As for my job, yes I'm very privileged to be able to get paid to do my hobby. I spent ten years in Powertrain at JLR after a life in race engines and fast road engines at Judd F1, Cosworth and Lotus Engineering. The last four years I've been working in Vehicle Engineering for SVO and I can't think of anything else I'd rather do. I'm incredibly lucky and hugely proud to have engineered this project from the very start.

Sound like the SVR development has been in safe hands... Seems clear it has been quite a long time in the making and is far from a "parts-bin" special.

If the car has been engineered from the outset to use the 22 inch wheels, you can imagine it working better than 22 inch wheels in the core car where there must be some compromises to accommodate a range of wheel sizes.

After looking at pictures of the SVR, go back to the Autobiography and it all seems a bit restrained by comparison - I think the body mods are finely judged. Mark
