REVERSING CAMERA - WITHOUT GVIF?

I have spent some time researching the various posts on this and the Disco & FFRR site but would appreciate confirmation (or otherwise!).

We have a 2007 MY 2.7 HSE luckily fitted with Satnav, Freeview TV and DVD player.

As far as I can see a GVIF is not needed as the screen has a Fakra/SMB socket to take a camera input which when enabled in CCF will automatically switch on reverse to display the camera. I have an IID tool so whilst I have not yet ventured into the CCF this looks simple enough. The camera to be powered from the reverse light connection.

Am I correct?

If so can someone confirm the connector and specification for the camera? NTSC/PAL? etc.
I believe the forum has a suitable connector available?

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

if I were you, I would buy the camera and see if this can be connected directly. although i have been informed that a video interface is required (i.e. there isn't one built-in). there are some tech savvy guys on this forum and I'm sure they would have solved this had it been possible. but try to prove them wrong Thumbs Up Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

Many thanks for the reply Luke. I am fairly sure nothing else is needed - I think the video interface which is only needed if you do not have the TV/Satnav is the GVIF. I have got a camera and I just need the connector for the display to try it out.
And some advice on changing the CCF!

Peanut, it only works automatically if you put the touchscreen into FFRR mode by cutting one of the wires on the back of the screen.

You can connect the camera and it will work, but only if you put the screen into diagnostics mode to rest the video connector.

Or you can install a gvif...... Bodsys Brake Bible

As Bodsy says you need to be in FFRR mode for this to work. I've tried it and found it to be unreliable and giving problems elsewhere with the touchscreen interface so reverted back to the standard RRS mode.

Other than the GVIF route you may want to consider a rearview mirror with integrated monitor, I've installed one and it works great and looks very OEM.

It's a bit cheaper than a GVIF unit but doesn't offer the functionality... So you pay your money and make your choice.

Here's the link to my 'write-up' on the mirror.
