Get one like mine. Great system but takes a while to warm up. You might have a bit of change to get yourself a few beers too. Thumbs Up

I've just started out down the Sonos route and have just bought a pair of Play 3's - with the intention of turning it into a surround sound system. Wink
Hope to have a Playbar, Subwoofer and a pair of Play 3's as the rear sound. Not cheap, but looks very cool and offered amazing sound when I heard it demo'd. Cool ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Thanks Thumbs Up

Not a big budget for a decent system. Maybe get a sound bar for that money?

How new a TV is it?

A decent 5.1 surround system will need an AV amp, 5 speakers and a sub woofer and it tends to cost! 2023 P440e SE Dynamic on order -cancelled

my Onkyo Amp was great, 24 months warranty, HDMI board gives up the ghost on month 25 Evil or Very Mad

Good thing is Onkyo has agreed to repair on good will, though this doesn't happen often, the repairs have just had 50 hdmi boards delivered to repair the current backlog and i still need to wait for the second delivery before they can fix mine Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Banging Head Banging Head

still excellent service from Exceptional-Av who sold it to me, contacting the Onkyo rep and arranging

Spent last night running a extra couple of cables for the 2 extra surround sound speakers i got to make it the full 7.1 surround sound after i bought some KEF eggs from my brother, to upgrade from my Boston Accoustics XS i bought

check out what hi-fi for award winners or five star items

check current prices with Richer Sounds / Exceptional AV and buy last years models, no point in splashing of £500 on a amp when you can get one just as good for £200-300 due to it been last years model, Exceptional AV also bundle together some decent kit saving you some money as it also included cables for things like speakers, HDMI, Subs

For the average joe public, your ears won't tell the difference over last years and this years models, though your bank balance will

Thanks all, I know not a very big budget, but it is a gift off the Wife and enough for what I need.

the top bundle falls in to your budget

http://exceptional-av.co.uk/home-cinema/home-cinema-bundles.html

2013 Award winning amp and the latest version (SE) of the boston Accoustic speaker that Muddy and myself have

Don't be put off by the size of them, i actually have my Bostons boxed up in the loft, I didn't want to part with them just in case I upgrade the lounge amp, and then i can unbox them for the conservatory with the old amp, move the conservatory system to the kids playroom Laughing

Its catching, though I won't be doing my speakers again, now i have the KEF's my brothers just spent silly money on some

Have a listen to a few soundbars too, a good quality soundbar can sound better than a poor quality surround set up at around the same cost and on your budget a decent 5.1 setup will be tight.

I don't own a soundbar but have heard a few and have been quite impressed.

i agree soundbars can sound good, but you can get a a good setup on his budget, i did

it will sound 10 times better than a TV speakers, sounds better than the blu-ray player with inbuilt speakers and amp

My brother has a SONOS soundbar in his bedroom sounds good, from what i heard when he brought it downstairs to his garden when having a BBQ,

I personally, can't see how a sound bar, bouncing sound off walls to mimic 5.1 surround sound can be better than a system with the extra speakers, to bounce the sound its got too produce it, so it passes your ears to bounce of the wall behind to be heard again

Still, i read good reports about them, so they must be doing something right and i just need convincing Laughing

Thanks for the link, think I may stretch to the Bose system always liked them. I already have a sound bar, but volume is limited, much better than the TV speakers though.
Will try a few out this weekend. Thumbs Up Current Volvo XC90 R Design T8

I wanted a Bose system and we were building an extension so was perfect time to build wiring in to shell Cool

Went into the Bose outlet shop at York - no prices so asked the salesman if I could get some help only to be told I had to go through to the theatre and listen/watch presentation before we could talk about prices Shocked

I told him I just wanted help choosing and idea of cost but he would not budge - result - I walked out and when home looked on web/what hifi and ordered the boston acoustic for a fraction of the price - great sound and looks very modern/neat in our lounge Thumbs Up

Bose salesman are so far up there own Censored they can't see what's right in front of them Whistle

All I need now is an amp with digital sub woofer output for the BA sub and I can get the full benefit - the old sony analogue sub does a good job though for the time being Bow down Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
