Perhaps the OP is referring to the TDV6's tendency to make a tapping noise on start-up? It's the hydraulic valve lifters tapping until the oil pressure builds up. It has been reported that if it is really bad then changing the oil filter for a genuine Land Rover item sometimes helps the oil pressure to build a bit more quickly. An oil change might help too if the present oil is old and thin. Nevertheless many TDV6 owners say it's a characteristic of the engine. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
