if you're referring to the cam belt and oil pump housing, it'll probably be more expensive by not having them done. and think about the re-sale value Thumbs Up by having them done in time. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.
DONE: Meduza front bumper, AB rear bumper, AB tailpipes, calipers repainted, rear upper tailgate upgrade, side steps, AB front grille, AB side vents, rear LED lights, clear side repeaters, integrated daytime running lights, LED headlights.
TO DO: color code sills and pillars.

It depends what you have been told that needs doing. If you have been told that you need the cambelt replacing, then you have been given the correct information, and yes you really do need it doing or face the risk of destroying your engine if its not replaced and your old one snaps. Big Cry With the service and all the belts that need replacing from an indi garage you are looking at around £600 ish.

Edit, must type quicker. Embarassed

All service plans are suggestions which you can ignore.

However if you have any sort of warranty 'they' will insist maintenance complies with LR's recommendations.

Obviously reliability can suffer and there can be safety considerations; IF you had a serious accident that resulted from a component failure that should have been changed/maintained then you could have a problem - but if the car passed its MoT its a mute point.

Its a fact that because many cars are basically reliable loads of drivers never do any checks especially on new cars and those not yet not subject to an MoT; its no accident that expensive cars less than 3 years old are often the ones that have their mileages computer 'adjusted'

one thing i've heard through this forum is that the cost can be lessened if you source the parts yourself, e.g through one of the site sponsors, then pass these on to the lr garage or indie for fitting. or you could do the entire job yourself, if you dare. Recently bought a 2007 RRS HSE TDV6 for a Pimp-My-Ride-Project.

Thanks all for your help, I have not been told that the work needs to be done by a garage just a lad in the pub told me about it, tanloverluke thanks for that, I just about know how to drive and were the fuel goes so i think i will start saving up and let the garage do it. Laughing
