wheel alignment

hi all what is best for wheel alignment on my rrs 2005 ? is main dealer the best option ?or just any garage? D Ledingham

Anyone that knows what they are doing. And don't forget you need a full tank or added ballast to get the car sitting right! 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

dont they have to use a computor to put the suspension in lock mode? is it not all set up by computor?

ive just heard that many diffrent stories

would kwikfit be a good option ? D Ledingham

I have Bear four wheel system that we use for lorries with multi-wheel steering and set mine up after dealer didn't do it correctly. Had straight steering wheel and perfect tyre ware after. Added 50kg to each footwell and empty tank and set it with suspension in normal ride as per dealer bulletin so not sure where locking it at access height comes from. As long as tech knows what they are doing, anyone can do it but personally, would chose a four wheel alignment specialist. 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

No, the advice is to use the diagnostic tool to set the vehicle to 'Geometry Set Mode'.
Putting the vehicle into this mode will make sure that the ride heights are controlled more accurately. Malaysia Boleh!

That's a new recommendation. Might explain why dealer could never get alignment right. Certainly isn't on 2009 technical bulliten. Yet again, nice work Bobby 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀

Is not a new recommendation - has been around since the cars first came out and is the correct process so will not be in any technical bulletin.

To do a wheel alignment correctly the car needs to be set to Tight Tolerance Mode (that is correct term). This needs to be done via a dealer or someone with a Faultmate etc. This narrows the tolerance level that the suspension computer maintains the car height at when at onroad height. You then get the alignment done in the normal way and then get the car taken out of Tight Tolerance Mode. I have never heard of loading the car up with bags of sand.
