mw I have read your many posts with interest but I think sadly you are expecting too much of LR or the dealer - lowering head below the parapet

The only reason I can see for buying a D4 is the load space - you get loads more in than the RRS

You are aware, I assume, that the RRS is just a Disco with a different frock on. They might have firmed up the suspension but it's still a Disco underneath. Having said that, the first Disco was a Range Rover with a different frock on too but that's a different story... One might, if being silly, make the comparison between the RRS and the Disco as being between two sisters. One is gorgeous and everyone wants her; the other is somewhat plainer but is actually the one you should marry because she does everything ![]() Hmmm, I think I need to get out in the sunshine - been staring at a screen too long today and it's addled my brain ![]() 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

The RRS will always lose out on ground clearance to the D3/4 though and, ultimately, this would be a limiting factor. You would need to be trying to get it stuck though... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

According to LR's figures, with the SDV6 engine, the RRS and the D4 have the same mpg figures and basically the same 0-60 times too (0.3s in it). The D4 has slightly larger external dimensions but that does then give it greater interior space too. Top speed is a bit less but who does more than 100mph in either vehicle anyway? Weights are pretty close to each other too.
