mw I have read your many posts with interest but I think sadly you are expecting too much of LR or the dealer - lowering head below the parapet

The dealer damaged your car & bottom line they only have to put it back into the same position as it was when it came in - you might get a grand gesture of goodwill offer towards a new motor but that's about it

As for LRCS yes they will look at LR related problems but dealers are of variable quality, we have a 2010 RRS on our fleet, driver complained for ages about knocking on suspension, no sir nothing wrong - when they did eventually agree they had to replace a load more bits under warranty - now drives like a dream - my point being all LRCS do is kick the dealer to put bits right & that is it

They are making good money selling good cars at a high price, you either buy into the more the spend the more you lose or do not buy new - your mini rather reiterates that - 20% plus depreciation in less than 6 months

Look at the dealership the swanky reception showrooms, the salesmans salary, the business manager salary etc etc, you pay for that in their margin.

I'm not unsympathetic to your plight I think you are now very much out of love with your RRS as a result of what has happened and want it changed at any cost, sadly you will be paying a pretty big cost.

Is it really worth it, throwing away a load more money on any vehicle - funding the dealer's overheads, your RRS is a good car your just not seeing it, it will tow the van do everything you need & you can keep the mini.

I really would like to encourage you to stand back & do nothing for a year wait till you get to the end of the warranty then think about changing Paul

I know how mw feels have had a similar problem with a Jeep Grand Cherokee in the past I just do not want him to lose a load more money like I did.

I appreciate that the electrical glitches are a nightmare but hope they can be resolved

I really wish you good luck Thumbs Up Paul

Thanks Paul Thumbs Up

I don't want to lose money but after nearly 2 months being unable to tow my caravan due to dealer damage, shoddy bodywork repair and 3 attempts to make vehicle driveable I see no choice and it's still not fixed Shocked

The only reason I can see for buying a D4 is the load space - you get loads more in than the RRS

That was nearly the selling point for me, but the wife wanted RRS #3 this time round with roof box and towbar ... blah blah

Now Im glad I got the RRS MY12, to me it feels just that bit better, even if Im carrying the world on my roof/towbar

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Santorini Black

^^^^ But it ain't no sport Whistle Ive just been looking at a disco 4 my mate has just detailed, and yes they are a nice motor, but.............. they are just one big block of metal, with no character, unlike the sport which has loads of it, the way i see such things in life, if i want a sport, i get a sport, i won't settle for something else, if i havn't enough funds then i save till i have, if i'd been let down to the point you have been Paul, then i would move on to a different marque, i wouldn't be ruled by towing a caravan every other week or so, yes i understand you have fallen out with your sport and your priority at this moment is to get it fixed, once thats done, sell it privately get as much as you can for it then move on, treat the Mrs to an holiday abroad with the extra money you get from selling private, and then look upon it as if Land Rover have paid for your holiday because you didn't let it go to them for peanuts Thumbs Up You will feel much better. Wink

Or ditch the caravan Whistle Thumbs Up

As said - disco's are OK just not anywhere near a Range Rover - i dont believe depreciation is nice and its certainly a lot of money for some more than others - relatively you will always be worse off with a disco, and there is always disco's available. Another problem with discos is that the people that would want them 2nd, dont want the £££ price tag for the extra that a disco has to have to get it closer to a sport - the range rover always carries with it that.

Why not get an SE sport?

Finally, you might get so far with the dealer, but like ive said - the dealer caused your issue, thats life - its not right, but its always you and the dealer. LR UK is nothing in that relationship, certainly not when the dealer has an accident Mike

You are aware, I assume, that the RRS is just a Disco with a different frock on. They might have firmed up the suspension but it's still a Disco underneath.

Having said that, the first Disco was a Range Rover with a different frock on too but that's a different story...

One might, if being silly, make the comparison between the RRS and the Disco as being between two sisters. One is gorgeous and everyone wants her; the other is somewhat plainer but is actually the one you should marry because she does everything Wink better than her sister - except running in high heels, which the pretty girl is brilliant at.

Hmmm, I think I need to get out in the sunshine - been staring at a screen too long today and it's addled my brain Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I can confirm that the RRS is just as good off-road as the D4, yes. Thumbs Up Whistle Mr. Green ============

The RRS will always lose out on ground clearance to the D3/4 though and, ultimately, this would be a limiting factor. You would need to be trying to get it stuck though... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Oh yes im aware the running gear is the same...very good access to that stuff.

Whilst the running gear is similar the body takes it to another league and the sport has different stats both in acceleration, height, weight, suspension, mpgs etc - have a look at www.landrover.co.uk Thumbs Up Mike

According to LR's figures, with the SDV6 engine, the RRS and the D4 have the same mpg figures and basically the same 0-60 times too (0.3s in it). The D4 has slightly larger external dimensions but that does then give it greater interior space too. Top speed is a bit less but who does more than 100mph in either vehicle anyway? Weights are pretty close to each other too.

The Sport only really lives up to its name when it's got the S/C lump up front...va va voom! Indeed, with the arrival of the Evoque, the diesel RRS increasingly looks a bit, well, pointless really. Maybe the new one will redress the balance.

Unless I can get a well priced second hand FFRR 4.4TDV8 next time, I can see myself with a D4. The new 3.0 V6 diesel is nearly a match for my 3.6V8 lump and gives much better mpg returns. The extra space would be nice with the dogs and as the condition of the roads gets worse over the years (very likely!), the softer ride will come in handy too!

I do rather fancy a 4.4TDV8 FFRR though Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Me too Big Cry

The RRS feels slow now after the vogue loaner, the suspension is harder but it does go round corners nicely Whistle Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
