engine system falult

Hi, Guys wonder if you can help driving home to night noticed on the display it said engine system fault went into slow mode then just died,, wont even start up , engine turns over ok but thats it MARK

More likely that the fuel sensor was saying "empty" when the tank still has fuel in it. This happened to a friend's RRS. Left him sat on the side of the road as the thing refused to believe it had any fuel in it... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Or it's done what mine did and digested the turbo deals Big Cry 2x TDV6. SE and HSE. Both returned to sender with issues👀
TDV8 Sport HSE...... Gone. Loved it but it didn't love me!!
Now rolling in MY10 Fullfat TDV8 Vogue. Slammed it to go round corners🙈
Cruising daily #56 mph in a Volvo V8. 😱
Lots of other toys in the cupboard...😜

P140A
Exhaust gas recirculation sensor C – circuit low

The last one is missing a letter so:

U0100
Lost communication with engine control module/powertrain control module ‘A’

P0100
Mass or volume air flow circuit 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Could it be a problem with one of the injectors, leak off leading to low pressure? I had this on a FF Rangie just wouldn't start!

I too have been suffering from the all-systems errors for months now. To date, have changed EGR valves, new battery, new air, oil and fuel filters, replaced brake bulbs, and replaced brake light switch.

Today I decided to blank the EGR valves and as I had to replace a failed water outlet connection I had to pull the throttle body off. This is what I found, and I think a perfect example of why EGRs should be banned:

I have never seen so much crud and c*** in an air manifold. I was utterly shocked. As a genuine user of a Range Rover for its offroad ability (living in darkest west Africa) I cannot believe that a design could cause such a potentially catastrophic event.

A good soak of the throttle body in petrol and a good go with a modified vacuum cleaner - I was able to clean out at least some of this awful gunk.

Reassembled everything (with my new EGRs now firmly blanked) and have just done a test run. The car is certainly running much better, has noticeably better pickup and acceleration.

HOWEVER, when putting my foot to the floor I still recreate the all-system error (Tranmission fault, HDC fault, Suspension lowered, F on the dash)! As always, stop turn off the engine and restart and everything is back to normal.

The fault code is as ever "P0087 - Fuel rail / system pressure - too low" (as read from my awesome IID Bluetooth tool).

Tomorrow I will change the fuel filter again... but beyond that I cannot think what else to do. Anyone got any clues?

Very common if fuel system is not immaculate.

Mikey - always a doyen of knowledge on these matters!

Don't suppose you've done a How To on that have you? If not but could give me some pointers then I'll gladly tackle that tomorrow with camera in-hand a post it a la your How-to's.

BTW - bought a decat pipe last week but no room to bring it back with me from UK as I had to bring a 6' tall stuffed toy for my daughter! Hopefully will get that posted in the couple of weeks too.

Not done a How-To for fuel tank removal. Run out of space in my sig for adding all of them as it is Laughing

Not a difficult job. Tank is held in with 6 bolts IIRC. Fuel pipes need disconnected at the front, filler pipes/breathers at the rear of the tank, and lower the tank enough, to get into the wiring. Once off, drop the tank right down Thumbs Up

Today I had the fuel tank off to give the in-tank fuel filter a good clean. As you can see - they were not pretty and you can even see shiny bits of metal in the swirl pot suggesting that something ain't right in there:







So convinced was I that this was going to be the root of all my problems I gave the filters a good clean and put it back together again:





Sadly, any good mechanic would have actually checked that the pump was working properly before re-assembling and maybe it was the 34º heat and blazing sunshine that got the better of me... but I didn't.

Voila, the pump isn't running and so the fuel tank will have to come off and be taken apart again tomorrow. Big Cry

The only slightly positive note is that being in a former French colony I'll probably find a pump for a Peugeot 605 for a decent price as it is the same as the one that LR charge nearly £500 for in the UK.

Incidentally, now that I think back I reckon that this pump has been kaput for a while as last time I replaced the fuel filter the garage used a vacuum pump on the fuel bleed valve in the engine bay to get her going. And I don't actually remember hearing the fuel pump at any point (it's usually quite noticeable I believe??).

If this is the case then I find it amazing that the vehicle can still work (albeit with much lower performance) by relying solely on the high pressure pump sucking fuel from the tank to the engine...
