@Bear

When I decided to buy a RRS I'd just come from a 2.7 TDV6 D3 and wanted something different with more oomff.

There was only 2 choices at that time, (for me at my budget) TDV8 or 4.2 s/c

The s/c was a non starter due to it's thirsty nature, the 3.0 TDV6 was brand new and nothing was around at my budget, so it had to be the TDV8. Plus I knew BAS had a map available for the TDV8 giving +100lbs of torque and power up to 320odd so my mind was made up.

Now that the older 3.0 TDV6's are coming down in price the gap between V6 and V8 is much less obvious and I do not envy your choice... Thumbs Up RRS gone

Everyone has their own reasons as to which model they buy and i'm surprised by the V8 boys slating the V6 choice of many on here Whistle Its all about personal choice and circumstances, each to their own Thumbs Up

Do you have any more details on this - I've looked on their website but not found any details of this?

I have driven both the 2.7TDV6 and 3.6TDV8 back-to-back and for me, the TDV8 was the better car.

As I have posted before, my assessment was that they are both good but each is suited to different types of driving:

- Around town and the odd trip: 2.7 TDV6 - more than enough power to waft you along the city streets and the odd A road or motorway trip but not enough power for safe overtaking at high speeds

- Long trips: 3.6 TDV8 - much better suited to the motorway where acceleration from 30-50 and 50-70 is just right for safe overtaking etc

As my daily commute takes in the M1, I felt the TDV8 was the right car for me. Also, the fact that I have been used to driving higher powered cars such as a 911 Turbo, 530D and 3.2 petrol CLK probably made the TDV6 feel even slower. I am sure if you were coming from a Fiesta it would seem more than enough power Twisted Evil

If I could afford the newer 3.0 TDV6, then I think the TDV8 might lose out as the additional power in the newer engine should be enough to mitigate the shortfall in the older 2.7

The only way to really tell is to drive both yourself on the types of roads you will use it most. Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

I don't think it's been slated or fair to characterize the comments made as as that. I'm not sure any of the range could be slated they're all very competent vehicles.

Its just been said that, in most TDV8 owners opinions, the V8 is better (having chosen it you'd expect us to say little else).

But that's all it is......... an opinion, no more, no less Smile Have i got the busted controller?!?!!?
