^^^ Have to agree, the idea of not having a spare at all...... Shocked

@ T8OOL - did you get anywhere with your enquiries into the CCTV.

I'm still debating on getting the RLD protector, on the one hand, its great idea, and can save the hassle/money replacing the wheel/winch.
On the other hand, if the mindless Censored that decides to take the wheel gets the arse as they can't take the wheel, are they going to then cause some mindless damage to the rest of the car possibly costsing a lot more than a wheel and the winch? Confused ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

I wouldn't of thought so, these lowlife scum are usually only after the spare wheel, Mr. Green prevention is better than the cure Thumbs Up and for £65, its not worth the time or hassel.

I logged the theft with the British Transport Police, got a crime reference and was told I would get a call from the police between 48-72 hours. That was last Wednesday and still no call. Will be chasing them up today.

I went back to where my car was parked and there is a camera facing my car, only 10 metres away, so hopefully if it was on, there should be a clear pic of the s***s stealing my wheel. Thats assuming, this late in the day the tapes haven't been recorded over. How long do they have to keep CCTV coverage for? RR Sport TDV8 09 Santorini Black with all the trimmings

Spoke to police and they have secured the CCTV coverage on the night. Not saying that the coverage is of high enough quality but fingers crossed it shows them scum bags

On a mission now, not to get the wheel back but to ensure they get nicked and feel some pain RR Sport TDV8 09 Santorini Black with all the trimmings

If you leave your car in a public car park or station car park on a regular basis, then it may be tempting to put your spare in a black bin bag and keep it inside the car, especially if you have tints on the windows. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

They take one look at the protectors and then sod off as they really don't want to hang around any longer than necessary.

I think if you ever get to see the CCTV, that they will get under, cut the cable & get out in less than 30 seconds. They won't waste their time if there is a protector in the way. Bodsys Brake Bible

Would agree with the 30 seconds. As I said, with ours, they tried it between my wife putting a load of kids stuff into the boot, going back into the house and coming back out with the next load. 30 seconds tops, wheel off but luckilly didn't have time to get it into the car before they scarpered. This was a 19" spare (with the speed restrictions stamped on it), not an alloy to match the others

We logged with the police and got a letter response saying initial investigation found no other witnesses blah blah would not be pursuing further. Strange, as we did inform them that 2 of the neighbours were in their gardens and saw the whole thing. Seems they missed this in their investigations. Rolling Eyes

The new winch I got had a steel tube covering the coiled end, so when looking under the car, I cannot see any cable at all so hopefully (!) this is a proper tamper proof winch...

I've been thinking about this and I'm going to write a letter to Land Rover to express my concern that LR have not rectified this design fault. Surely this is fit for a recall?

Anyway even if it doesnt get anywhere I'll rant it off my chest.

Be interesting to know how many forum members have had theirs stolen so I can give them a figure? - Thats ones that are aware its gone RR Sport TDV8 09 Santorini Black with all the trimmings

that picture is the one that I got. £66 delivered from Yeovil Land Rover.

I think it is the one from the D4, but fits the RRS also (may be wrong with that though...)

Spoke with Dan at Duckworths where I bought mine (old version) and he's going to swap it for the new style anti-theft version, no problems.
