same problem on mine has been cured by cleaning out the park brake drums (which was done under warranty). The technician advised that re-setting the drum after removing it is a difficult process, without the correct tools, to get right and should only be attempted by the dealer. He did show me, however, the holes in the sides of the rear hub/park brake drum which can be used for regular flushing of the brake drum with pressurised water to keep it generally clear of dirt build up...... a necessity if you use the vehicle for offroading in muddy or sandy environments.

Don't wait! Get it looked at or you could damage the EPB actuator which is a heap of money to replace.

I had this on my 57 TDV8 RRS; a god awful screeching sound with no warning, when i applied the EPB. This happened on three occasions and was worse each time. The fourth application and i thought the back axle had broken in two |
