Getting done for speeding...

Was on a clear winding road yesterday and stuck the cruise control on at what i thought was thirty... the road started to go up hill slightly then down hill and felt as though the cruise was adjusting to the different levels of incline then decline... Police guy jumps out and orders me to pull over... I knew i wasnt speeding so just kept my mouth shut and let him tell me off... He said he clocked me a 38 in a 30 and I sincerely thought hes was just gonna give me a earbashing and send me on my way so I didnt go into the whole cruise control blip thing... Then... he comes back and says hes doing me?!?!?

Im confused and feel unfairly treated... I plan to fight it and have the case heard in court...

Has anyone else had that with the cruise control where the speed is inconsistent momentarily?

Down hill the vehicle will speed up with the cc set, by how much depends on how steep the hill is, cc does not put the brakes on for you it just eases off the power, unlike the ACC found on other RRS well that puts the brakes on for you, so i'm afraid you may not win in court, there are other loopholes that you can go down though Thumbs Up

The cruise control argument won't help your defence at court. If you feel that strongly about the incident then you are better off asking to see the calibration certificate and check when the laser gun was last calibrated, but this is a long shot!

When I set my cruise control to a certain speed, the actual speedometer always shows 3 or 4 miles an hour more than the digital display.

Margin's usually 10% plus 2 i.e. 35 for a warning, at 38 its a booking.

Cruise control in a 30 zone and you want sympathy - If you'd said it was on cruise control he'd probably done you for driving without due care in a built up area!!

Suburban roads... Clear... no one around... Cruise control ideal.. Do it all the time...

Yes... cop with Lazer gun... No emotion... automated speech and no sign of life in its eyes...

Amazing! This is one brilliant way around it! (though a long shot as you say) - but still hilarious! Vadim A.
