Cleaning....Need upto date advice .

Ive read through a few past topics and yet im still confused about cleaning my car.

So Im going to wash it with the poorboys shampoo i have, but then what?
What is a detailer?
Which clay? ARGHHHHH

Any body got half a day free lol !!!

Just get a Megs quick clay kit, comes with clay and the detailer spray as a lube, if you have any detailer spray left you can keep it and use it for quick wipe overs

Then rewash and dry
Polish with chosen polish
Then rewash/wipe over if it's left dusty residue
Dry
Wax
Stand back and admire what your brothers done

Cheers nick just bought the maguires smooth surface clay kit

Now just washing my car.

This is what I think I nee to do ...
Wash
Dry
Spray with detailer (o I need to polish it in?)
clay
then do I wax? As the kit has a cleaner wax ?

2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Buckingham Blue

This is what i do to get a fantastic finish....

Snow foam.....Autobrite supa snow foam through karcher Pressure washer.
Rinse.
Hand wash with 2 bucket method.....Meguiar's gold class shampoo.
Dry.
Clay with detailer as lube....Meguiar's clay and detailer.
Hand wash again.
Dry.
Polish.....Autogym super resin polish.
Wax.....Meguiars's Ultimate Quik Wax.

Takes a while but well worth it.

Wash, rinse & then clay, then quick wash once again
Dry
Polish
wax

The detailing sprays is not a true wax, more a top up wax when your having a quick wipe down on a already waxed car

Does it really need claying Foxy? 2011 car?
Perhaps you just need to de tar it? I've just bought this & once you get past the daft name its really good stuff

Youll be amazed how much stuff can come off in a short time on the road, if your giving it a good polish its worth it in my opinion

JasV6HSE has got it right, plenty of lube for the clay bar and light strokes etc twice a year should be good and yes it will make a big difference etc. watch the water dissapear when you rinse after the next wash. run your finger over the car before you clay and you will feel all the contaminants etc. then agian after clay it should be super smooth like polished glass.

dont drop the clay bar etc

Claying is the single most important part of cleaning a car. Can't stress that enough

If you don't clay the car then you are just rubbing contaminants into the paintwork and creating swirls!

Not so important on a White car but black, well, let's just say it's a necessity!

I am knackered !!! 4 and a half hours and its clean
So if anyone is interested heres how i did it. I dont think i could possibly get the car any shinier.

Ok so this is what I used

And this was my method.

Washed the car with Poorboys shampoo and a big lambswool mit.
dried it with a finishing cloth.
Used the Maguires Clay bar with plenty of the maguires detailing spray.
Washed the car again with the same shampoo.
Dried the car
Then used super resin polish
Then used the super gloss sealer.
Maguires tyre purple gel.
Rubber and plastic autoglym cleaner

I am so tired but it gets addictive.
The Clay bar was well worth the effort though. There was so much crap and sap stuck to my bonnet. I was shocked and when you think its still quite new too !

This is the bonnet I dont know how well you can see it but there are yellow spots all over it !

Its quite surprising the crap that actually sticks to the clay bar

Any way after a lot of hard work i think the end result is well worth it .
It seems to make polishing so much easier after youve clayed the car.

Excellent work......looks amazing. Just use a rapid Detailer to top it up each day and you may never have to wash it for a week!! Or if it needs it, just rinse it off with a hose and dry it off.......

Thanks Nick and thanks for your advice. Ha ha I bet you thought I was crazy ringing you up and asking how the hell I used the clay. But once you get used to it, it does seem quite easy.
