Well as a member of this forum since Day 1 (May 26, 2005 to be exact) I am pleased to say I still have a RRS. The fact that she is currently in a LR workshop with the body off the chassis having bits of turbo delicately removed from the engine isn't just the best news. But I still think it is a fab car and don't regret for a minute having one. We had a Disco 3 on launch day (now D4 owners) and got a TDv6 Sport near launch day (now a TDv8 plus bits owner) and show no signs of turning our backs on the brand. I might not get another RRS though - but will get a new Defender as soon as the new model is launched. Afraid I am hopelessly addicted to LR's having learnt to drive in one and had squillions of them ever since (everything except a Freelander that is .... Whistle ). RRS TDv8 HSE Rimini

Forums only represent a fraction of people and of which i bet you would find 50+% of those only come to a forum to seek advice or to air a grievance and are not regular.

You could then argue that of that people who have bothered to find a forum are likely to be more vocal/more angry/more anti something - the next result - even if you add all the forum users they wouldnt total 10% of sales - then of that if only 50% of them have a problem then thats 5%...overall not very representative of a problem

Go further and compare the % volume of sold across makes and it become even less representative.

So what i was getting at is, people on forums are more likely to highlight issues and for those to be documented, that of those - the significance against volume produced is low...hence why i would take the real negative comments with a pinch of salt. Thumbs Up

Still blame the dealers more than the vehicle

I couldnt agree more. I have been a forum member on VW sites as my last 2 cars were VW (R36 and MkVGTI).

So many problems reported on the forum, and most of the serious issues were put on the forum by people who had one or two posts.

I had very few problems with both cars, none were serious.

Then again who is really going to get on a forum and say "I went to the shops today in the RRS, everything was fine and then I drove home again". The only real reason to put up a post is if there is something noteworthy - like a new trick, modification or a problem.

I looked on this website quite a bit prior to purchase, and whiilst there were heaps of problems logged, I took it with a grain of salt, and to date my RRS has not skipped a beat.

It is great to read about issues people have so that if an issue presents itself you can go to the dealer informed, rather than having the wool pulled.

Just my thoughts. 2011 TDV6 Luxury - Baltic Blue, Ebony with Contrast Stitch, RSE, Stormers, Towpack.

I knew from your helpful posts that you are still around Bobby Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

...and I'm glad there still are a few old-timers like Smarticus and others who value their RRS after more than six years. My current TDV8 is my third RRS since 2005 after having owned three Discos before that and I still think the TDV8 is the best multipurpose car I've ever owned, and I have owned plenty incl BMWs. Mercs, Audis you name it.

I have to admit though that I will keep my current TDV8 only as long as there are no major (and I mean MAJOR) issues with the car, fingers crossed. I will definitely not going the new eco-hybrid RRS or whatever it's called route and the Evoque to me is just a city/girlies car. Hopefully LR gets it right with the new Defender/Disco successor Razz SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE BUG AND SOMETIMES YOU'RE THE WINDSHIELD
