I know the feeling, 49mph gust when i was away in cornwall the other year, horizontal rain and a caravan that decided to whistle with each big gust of wind, but luckily i had seen the forcast and took down the awning for the last few days

This time round i was at home, gaffer taping in a conservatory roofing panel than had come loose, which ended up getting sucked out and blown 12' over the rest of the connie, the 8' high hedge, the pavement and landed in the middle of the road, were i managed to retrieve it just before a car came round the corner Shocked

Hi Guys,

First post here. I have just bought my first RRS, a 55 2.7 HSE, i tow have a caravan, 26Ft twin axle and used to tow it with a Chrysler 300c, apart from getting stuck in a wet field all the time it was great, but only towed at 20mpg, i reckon if you tow anything big, you will only see low 20's whatever you drive. My mate has a Mazda 3 and a small van and only get low 20's.......

I am away at the end of March towing from Manchester to Anglesey so i will let you know how i get on.

MPG Towing

I regularly get 19mph towing twin axle Bailey Pegasus 1660kg laden weight on Cornwall runs but with south westerly blowing me back increases that to around 21 ish. We have no motorways in this southern area of Hampshire/Dorset, only hilly "A"roads along the coast so not bad I reckon.

Best tow car ever for me and no need to use the old Dixon Bate Shocklink that I had fitted to two previous Discovery's and a Isuzsu Trooper. I only used to get 18 when towing from my Discovery 2 at any time so happy with my lot!

I also have to remember the speed as the car tows so well. Baza G

I have just done appx 400 miles over the Easter break and got circa 20mpg, to be fair, this is alright, towing a 1800 kg laden van with EVERYTHING packed in it + Famliy is decent. The car is an excellent tow car, much steadier than my old 300C, but, as much as i hate to say it, it lacks some of the power that I am used to, and no doubt the V8 boys will have their say here......... Ii am sure a remap would help but before i do i going to sort the cam belt service...

Towing Twin Axle Caravan

Hi Robbie1

I tow a well loaded Swift Conqueror 630 with my 2006 RRS and on way back from St Agnes Cornwall to New Forest (198 miles) 20 September had 20.9 on the computer when home. Car well loaded with SWMBO and 3 large Labradors as well as other clobber. No motorways other than between two junctions on M5 at Exeter - rest is variable hilly and through Dorset Villages. Pleased with that as its a big van to pull!

Worst ever on run either way has been 18.5. Baza G

It helps a lot sitting in behind lorries. 2014 Nara Bronze SDV6
