United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Orkney Grey
Gap v Lynx Diagnostic Tools

With Christmas around the corner I thought I’d buy myself a small pre-Xmas gift of a diagnostic interface
Now here’s the thing I read all the supporting comments for the Gap llD Tool and so wrote to Gap for spec. and price- I have the 2012 (2013MY) 3.0SDV6.

They passed the email to BritPart who gave me Part numbers but no price; saying “The IID Tool for the 2013 RRS is available now: -Regular IIDTool DA6404; -IIDTool BT DA6409”
Wrote again as supplier was a residential home and asked for price again. No price provided but possible suppliers given as…
“Salop4x4 - http://www.salop4x4.co.uk/ ; Island 4x4 - http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/ ;
LR Direct - http://www.lrdirect.com/?gclid=COGL6q_0n7gCFbMftAod4WcAnQ

So I checked out the BritPart site – they seem to advocate their Lynx System but give no prices !
Checked out Salop4x4 site which linked to their Ebay listing they quote £470 and it said “This Listing is for: DA6409Range Rover Sport - 2010 to 2013”.
But further down the ad. they say ”For Bluetooth version see DA6408 “ !!

So_ Gap make it, Britpart Wholesale it, and someone retails it, (each adding their mark-up and making us more remote from the maker in terms of warranty/support).

Anyway cost aside I’m left wondering whether I should be buying the BritPart Lynx tool or one of the Gap units i.e. DA6404, DA6409 or DA6408 : which ?

Anyone have experience of the Lynx system (and know the cost) as the Gap products are limited to small vehicle display or handheld devices and I think I’d prefer running diagnostics via a laptop.

I wouldn't use the britpart own one...it was good some years ago, but not any more.

I personally would try the gap route...im not a fan of blackbox for a massive list of reasons (having owned two).

There is a case that says - do you really need it, or is the relationship with a garage and £20 better long term? Mike

Mse - You're right I don't really need one at all, car's still under warranty for a couple more years and, if I still have, I will extend the warranty after that.

Just sometimes its good to play ! which probably says the Gap llD Tool is the way to go.

The 'play' argument probably also says that the "Torque" iPhone App plus an EM327 Bluetooth interface (or similar) for a few quid via Ebay might be a route although I suspect I'd rather pay a bit more for something that is of better quality and capability (Bit like owning a RRS!!)

Anyone thinking of the Gap unit, then it may well be worth contacting Simon at MPS Trading Ltd (Disco 3 Forum Sponsor) he was VERY helpful when I bought the Bluetooth version. Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

A thing to think about, there isn't a lot to play with really,

Not a lot to turn on and off etc Mike
