2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Java Black
New head unit

Hi, I have tried the search function which was some help but still not really sure what to do! I have a 2007 Sport with the Harmon Kardan system with fiber optic amplifier under the drivers seat.

I have wired in a new touch screen head unit with sat nav, dvd player, ipod conector and radio etc.

The main problem is I was lead to belive I need to bypass the HK amplifier but then I read about people keeping the original head unit in the system and storing it in the boot?

could I please get a simple overview of whats required to keep the original head unit connected to the system? An will this avoid the need to by pass the amplifier?

Would I need to extend the fibre optics from the amp under the seat to the orginal head unit in the boot? I understand keeping the head unit has the benefit of keeping the trip computer and steering wheel controls working.

Finally how do you keep the original head unit in the system? is it just a case of extending the necessary wires from the dash to it and link it to the new head unit?
Any help very greatfully recived! Thanks Gareth

Hi,

i bypassed the amp and have the speakers working, but can't pick up any radio reception! I assume I must need to run some power to the ariel as i imagine its an amplifed one but no idea where I need to run the power too!

Does anyone know where the power needs to go to amplify the ariel signal?

thanks

Might be worth a post over on Disco 3 as quite a few have altered head units etc.

Might be worth a look in Bobbys gallery here as might have wiring diagram that might help.

seem to remember ariel amp behind panel in rear
