Bobby, not meaning to question your omniscience about all things RRS... but I would suggest it is noticable to the driver as the engine noise changes slightly whilst the burn cycle occurs.. IMO anyway! Thumbs Up

You would be perfectly right. Thumbs Up Noithing beats experience! Laughing

Sorry, I am just posting what I read somewhere (LR info) and I admit I have no first hand knowledge on this as I have never driven a vehicle with DPF! Smile Malaysia Boleh!

Bobby, thanks anyway... Thumbs Up
Based on the info in your gallery, you could also remove the DPF at all, however did not get it approved from LR.
I will get an system update on Friday and will check all the presure/temp sensor and lets see what happens.
Will post a note then...

The second message was much more helpful. Bow down
I presume that as you said, DPF is fine but there is some problem with the ECM of the vehicle, since that was the first message i got ("Engine System Fault").
What would you then recommend? Can I get just the ECM software update to solve the problem? Or is there any other solution?

I think you must insist the dealer checks all the things related to the DPF, especially the software. I'm sure they can update the software.

Having said that I'm surprised with the 'Engine System Fault' message. My limited knowledge tells me that when the DPF becomes full the driver is alerted with a 'DPF FULL' message. You should then drive the vehicle until the engine is at its normal operating temperature and then drive for a further 20 minutes at speeds not less than 30 mph (48 km/h). Would be better if you can go really fast! Anyway, if the regeneration is successful the 'DPF FULL' message will go off.

If the software still detects that the DPF is full/blocked, this message 'DPF FULL VISIT DEALER' will appear. Suffice to say, a trip to the dealer is recommended to have the DPF force regenerated. This is when you should insist on a full check-up!

Engine System Fault is different.

Hope this makes sense... coffee wearing off! Laughing Malaysia Boleh!

What you ssaying does make sense. Unfortunately the car itself does not... And that mainly because the messages come as the they wish...
I got "DPF full visit dealer" without any previous message connected to DPF.
The recent "DPF full see handbook" I eliminated by the intructions (drive with over 2500rpm more than 20 minutes - burned a 1/4 of the tanks but anyway)...
The last advice i got from LR is to use Sulphur free diesel. Shocked Wander if I can get it here in the UK...

Rower, are you sure that is the DPF doing a cleaning cycle. When I had the TDv6 it used to sound quite strained some mornings after starting and not on others. I took it to the dealer and they said it was the gearbox oil cooler going through a check cycle! My FFRR did the same thing and neither car had the DPF fitted. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Maybe the 2-stroke oil mixed with diesel helps?

I don't think so. I just this morning had the "DPF Full - See Manual" message, and I only have put 6'500KM on the car since new. It has been about two weeks since I went on a longer drive (>20KM), but only ca. 175KM, and I have added a mix of 1/200 semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil into the diesel all along.

I did the "2'500RPMs for 20 minutes", and the message went away, but it left me wondering what prompted the error in this case?

KB, after I had the sensor exchanged (just search for the post where I mention it) I do not have any problems.
Do at least once a week a longer trip (>100 km) and else drive in the town (<20 km).

But to be honest with you, this whole DPF thing is not my thing. Spoke to a guy from Jaguar UK this week and he mentioned that they have constant problem with DPFs and so they decided to call them back and get them removed. Thumbs Up
Which I would do immediately as well but LR does not let me do it. Big Cry

It is supposedly also an issue to remove the DPF here in Switzerland.

I will await any further issues, and then talk to my stealer. RRS TDV8, black with ivory.

Mate to remove the damn thing is not issue of a country. It is LR that does not allow me to do so because of ECU (their claim at least Rolling with laughter ) ...

OK, but according to my stealer, the Swiss are also requiring all new diesel cars to be fitted with a DPF, or pay more in taxes. RRS TDV8, black with ivory.
