Are you sure this is not just the exhausted gases now being visible due to a drop in ambient temperature?

yep its comming from a small pipe on the rhs of the sump at the passinger side which goes right up to a small exhaust box and into this preheater .. Plus it covers the yard in smoke you would think it was on fire! |

it seems a little OTT to me, possible a diesel/oil leak onto a hot exhaust

They can smoke quite dramatically the first few times that are called upon as we head into winter. They work on a thermostat so it's possibly the first time it's cut in this year. If in doubt give it to your dealer for a cold start test.

My last RRS used to smoke quite dramatically - really more than you'd expect but all perfectly OK |

started her this morning and there was a faint plum of blue/grey smoke for a short while and then it sleared so all is ok many thanks.. I am heading to the north of Scotland today so was worried that there was a problem. didnt fancy having to take the Mondeo especially as they are prdicting snow!!!!!
